Author Notes: This story is going to be revealed, for at least the beginning, four to six parts per day. When I reach chapter divisions, I will post them as whole chapters. This is mostly because this was how the story was written and I find it to be more interesting that way.

"Doiha," Tetsu murmurs as he kneels in front of him, hands resting on his arms. Warmth seeps through his cold skin almost instantaneously but he's still so cold and so exhausted, Tetsu could slap him without getting a response from Hyde. The use of his nickname, though...Hyde wasn't expecting that and he lets out a muted whimper, fingers digging into his skull.

He just wants it to go away, even for a minute. A minute, that's all...

"Tell me what to do," he rasps out, holding back the waves of nausea threatening to consume him again. He hates that he's giving in, putting himself in someone else's hands but he can't stand on his own without keeping the contents of his stomach in its place. It's painfully obvious he can't do anything right on his own anymore.

Tetsu's fingers flex around his arms then gently, they run up and down, trying to soothe him. It's hardly comforting but the fact that Tetsu's trying should be something, shouldn't it?

It's interesting how life flips around in one second. Not even five minutes ago, he was willing to just get out of here and away from his friends. Then it's just one glimpse of a lifeless face, a glimpse of heartbreaking defeat and Hyde's throwing himself at the quickest out possible. He's sick at just how pathetic he is to accept anything that could save him when he knows there's a huge possibility Tetsu might do something that will send Hyde spiralling back into despair and loathing. His only excuse is that at least this time, he can't blame himself for whatever Tetsu decides.

You're letting him, his voice - that monster's voice - sneers, wicked and cruel, You let him, so wherever he goes, it's your fault. It takes too much energy not for Hyde to retch again. He might be able to admit that to himself, but his strength to fight has whittled down to nothing. He might regret this but right now, he doesn't care. He just doesn't.

"If you need to lie down, lie down," Tetsu says softly, "If not, I want to take you somewhere. I'm just trying to help, Hyde...that's all I want to do."

You can't. You can't at all. But Hyde closes his eyes and his head bows, almost brushing against Tetsu's shoulder and he's careful not to move. Tetsu might not be able to...but Hyde's throwing in a white flag.

"I'll go," he croaks.

"Are you sure?" Tetsu asks gently, but Hyde has already let himself fall into Tetsu's arms, too tired to fight and completely unwilling to. He's broken, hurt, and most of all, desperate. It might only be the early afternoon but it already seems like it's too late to do this, and in the next minute, he's leaning on the bassist as Sakura returns and looks on, expression uncharacteristically stricken.

"I'll see you around," the drummer tries, and Hyde nods, still leaning on Tetsu because he's so warm and so gentle and so...

He's full of blood...

Hyde doesn't know why everything seems to have hit him so suddenly but this time, he's just too utterly exhausted and when his fangs slide out involuntarily, he just lets them, head lolling to the side as Tetsu guides him out Sakura's door, then to the elevator, then to his car. He loses himself in his thoughts along the way, busied with worrying about Gackt and trying to focus on what might be milling about in his mind rather than where they are going, and he's barely there by the time Tetsu helps him into the car, only remembering to fasten his seatbelt when the bassist's voice breaks past the barrier he's constructed between himself and reality.

"It won't be a long drive," Tetsu reassures him. If he had the energy, Hyde would have snorted - that's not what he's worried about, but thanks anyways, Tetsu. Idly, his tongue brushes against sharp fangs but rather than submit to his aggressive nature, his head just hits the cool glass of the window. He watches cars fly by - the lunch crowd, probably trying to find some reprieve from the dry life of nine-to-five jobs. Hyde's never envied them but, at least all they have to worry about is paying the bills and raising a family.

Lucky bastards, he thinks sourly as the car twists sharply to the left, Tetsu shooting out quick apologies. Hyde barely notices - reality is nothing but a blur again as he wanders the twisted paths of his own thoughts. He still sees Gackt everywhere, haunting him this time with a look of cold indifference and not horror. Hyde's not sure which he prefers - selfishly, maybe it's this look, where he doesn't see the effects of his actions. But Gackt has never used that look against him and amongst the numb defeat, Hyde feels a spark of agony flicker. He never thought he would see Gackt's infamous wall...it's more than he deserves, at any rate.

"...down, okay?" Tetsu's voice drifts back in again and Hyde slides a glance at him but doesn't say much. Tetsu meets his gaze, eyes overflowing with concern and uncertainty. Hyde's not exactly reassured by that but his voice is lost in his throat so he just raises an eyebrow. Tetsu sighs and beneath him, the car rolls into an eventual stop.

"I'm not sure if it's a good thing that you're not listening," he mutters.

Hyde just shrugs, resting his head against the window of the car. He's so lost in his thoughts that he doesn't hear what else Tetsu says, but instead he's in a world of Gackt, Gackt, Gackt... Gackt and then there's blood, and then he sees nothing at all as his eyes slip shut. He's almost able to get away, almost able to immerse himself completely in the tiny bit of his mind that's still just a blank void before Tetsu speaks up again.

"Hyde, we're here," he says softly, and the brunet finally hears him, though it's only for a fleeting instant before he's lost in the sound of silence. It's in his ears, in his mind, and then he swears there's someone screaming -

"Hyde." The voice is firmer this time, and the window he's been leaning against is suddenly moved away - Hyde falls, and Tetsu can barely catch him before he regains some form of control over his body. His eyes are blank as he gazes up at the red-headed bassist though, and he is unable - unwilling, the monster hisses faintly at him - to recognise where he is. You don’t want to know, because you’re afraid…

His eyes open, really open, for the first time since today’s nightmare began and he realises where he is, panic creeping up on him as he sees the sign that bears the name ‘Tokyo Metropolitan Hospital’.

A second later his eyes lock with Tetsu’s and he swears that he sees a flicker of doubt before a rush of terror wash over him entirely.
