John Cusak mostly flails around yelling and rolling on the floor and none of the scariness-es are in synch with one another. This is the main problem- none of the scary business is related to the other scary business- no cohesive story, as in "The Shining". It's just general teen-horror-cheap-thrill-flic scariness that makes no sense and so isn't really scary.
