in the spirit of spontaneity (and honestly a bit of irresponsibility) , i took off two days from work and headed up to Orlando with shiyody for our mutual friend brians 22nd birthday. I was expecting the usual getting wrecked, goofing around and reminiscing.. i was way off. It turns out Orlando isn't the boring place i'd come to think it was, really quite the opposite.
We took shiyodys car up there, and he blew out a tire a bit north of Boca Raton on I-95 around 10pm. We put on the donut and hoping for a little luck tried to find a place where we could buy a new tire, it was going to be a long drive if we had to stay under 50 mph the whole way.. so we happen to find a Walmart, but alas their Tire and Auto center was closed by that time.. so we were about to head back to Miami for the night when we see a tow-truck driver picking up this ladies car.. the lady was in hysterics.. i know how shitty it is to have your car towed.. but we pulled up and asked if we bought a tire, could he put it on the rim? the whole time i was thinking back to my shitty trip to gainsville with josh, and how i was fucked over in a similar situation.. but the guy turned out to be really nice, and said he'd do it for $30.. to which we agreed.. so i go back inside walmart and find out that all their tires are in the auto center, which they cant open till the next morning, so unless there was a matching tire on display outside, we were out of luck. So i check all the ones on display and there wasn't anything close.. then i look up and see theres some more on top of racks. They were supposed to be display only, but after knocking one down, and slapping a (cheap) sticker on it from one of the tire displays.. we now had the new tire. The tow truck driver and now his brother switch out the tires and pump it up with air.. and shiyody later tells me that the girl whose car was getting towed, was actually the drivers girlfriend.. who told him some story about where she was, and he found out she wasn't where she said she was or something.. so he took her car.. crazy hicks. After that, we got there without a problem around 3am or so..
The next day and a half were extremely fun.. Chris showed us a really good time.. theres this sweet place up there called "lazy moon pizza", or something similar.. amazing 3 foot pizza for $20, which happens to be right next to the bar where Chris works.. which is right next to the gym where they all train.. We hung around the bar for a bit, it was open mic night for blues.. some of the performers were really good, the whole atmosphere was a nice change of pace. I went to my first "Cigar bar", played pool, met some crucial people, stayed there till 4am or so then we called it a night.. I've been invited back up by some of the people i met for a free trip to disney world in september. On the way home i got crazy lost for about 3 hours.. but finally was able to make my way back to miami.. i pulled into work with 4 minutes to spare.
