It was the middle of the night. Most normal people would have been asleep, but April had a feeling that the odd collection of angels, hunters and demons didn't exactly follow the normal way things tended to work. Hell, she didn't even follow the way things tended to work half the time, and she was still under the impression that maybe if she tried hard enough she could get her life back, and that the twelve years she spent fighting for it hadn't damaged her completely. She knew that on some level, she was probably deluding herself, but she had to at least hope that somewhere down the line, she would get hers.
She turned down the volume on the radio as she pulled up, not wanting to disturb anyone if they actually were sleeping, and shut off the car, planning on just staying long enough to check in and see what was happening. There was a motel not too far back, and she could crash there and spread out, make sure that she had enough room to work. All the good magic wasn't done without a little elbow room.
Her heels hit the gravel in the driveway and she stretched, kicking her legs back and forth to try and get the stiffness out. It had been a long drive and she was looking forward to the walking. She started to make her way back towards the trunk, planning on changing her shoes. She hadn't had a chance to take off her heels since she left the church on Sunday, and she was looking for a more practical pair of shoes. The rest of her outfit could wait to be changed -- a button-down with the first few buttons undone, and a pair of black pants, and she just sat down on the edge of the trunk, settling in to switch her shoes. Hopefully, she hadn't attracted too much attention.
Wouldn't want to give the surprise away, after all.
