"I think I can handle it," Andrew Stephens insisted.

Dalia watched her boss struggle to knot his tie, his injured shoulder and arm in a sling. In the aftermath of the assassination attempt, Dalia had not only stepped in to act as an interim press secretary, but continued her work as the mayor's aide. As his assistant, her job now included helping him with basic tasks that he couldn't manage while his shoulder healed.

His efforts with the tie were in vain. Andrew wasn't one to anger quickly but he looked ready to throw the tie across the room.

Dalia sighed and stepped forward. Wordlessly, she fixed his tie.
"I could've done it," he said, looking down at her while she did that.
"And then we would've been late," Dalia pointed out, making sure it was straight.

"Not that I would've minded," Andrew said. "Only in Gotham is the mayor expected to go to parties and keep his tee-off time a week after getting shot."
"Only in Gotham does the mayor push himself to do those things instead of telling everyone to lay off," Dalia said.
"I promised the library I'd be there ages ago," Andrew said.

Dalia smiled. "I know. Mariah Talbot called again this afternoon to make sure you'd be there."
"Did she?" the mayor's eyes flickered with interest at the mention of the head librarian.
"Yes, I told her you would be," Dalia noted the look, "is--she a personal friend? I would've put her through to you if I'd known."
"We went to college together," Andrew said lightly.

His tone and the look in his eyes made Dalia wonder if there was more to the story. But...it wasn't her job to ask about it. Maybe she could ask in the context of being Andrew's friend, but this was business right now. Yes, he was a nice boss who she considered a friend, but more than anything, she was his assistant.

So instead, Dalia just nodded, then glanced at her phone. "We better get going."
After grabbing the mayor's coat and her own, Dalia opened the door of his apartment and they went out, heading toward the elevators. He'd taken the afternoon off - the attempt at golfing the day before hadn't gone very well and he was still tired from the strain - so Dalia, after changing into a slightly nicer dress than what she usually wore to work, met him at his place to help him get ready.

"Sorry to keep you so busy this week," Andrew said as they stepped out of the elevator and into the lobby.
"It's not a big deal," Dalia shrugged as they went toward the building's entrance.
"Still, it's nice of you to give up your social life the last few days," he said, opening the door with his good arm.
Dalia rolled her eyes. "Social life? What social life?"
He chuckled as they went outside.
