Summary: Alternate Universe. A series of flashes taken from Lambo's life had the Ring Battles gone a different way...
Notes: This muse has been floating around in my head (and in the khrdressingroom) for a while. When first reading the Ring Battles I had to wonder if the losers were given to the losing Boss, thus...this AU was born. In this universe, Lambo and Gokudera are the Varia's Lightning and Storm respectively, while Levi A Than and Belphegor were given to Tsuna at the end of the Ring Battles. This is hopefully going to be an ongoing series, since I have a few unfinished drabbles in the works.

Lambo is eight years old when he's sent on his first official mission as a member of Varia - an age where he should be worrying about school instead of infiltrating and killing someone who might pose a threat to the Vongola. Of course, his loss in the Ring conflict three years ago already meant that he could never have a normal life.

Lussuria and Gokudera are the ones who bid him good luck - Gokudera begrudgingly and Lussuria weeping like a mother watching her child leave the nest. He sees Squalo-senpai out the corner of his eye as he leaves the mansion, but says nothing to the older man. Squalo-senpai is staying out of sight because he doesn't want to admit that he's worried about his student, and Lambo respects that. Mammon and Xanxus aren't there, because Mammon doesn't do farewells and Xanxus is...well, Boss is Boss.

The infiiltration part had been easy. The nine-year-old daughter of the Endario Famiglia's boss had been lost out during a thunderstorm, and would have been struck by lightning had it not been for Lambo. When the search party arrived at their location, they found him asking their young princess if she was alright as static visibly jumped along his flesh, hair barely standing on end due to his body's ability to hold electricity.

The members of the search party would recall this information to their boss, and once she was well out of shock to speak, Juliet - his daughter - would recall the moment the lightning came down from the heavens and struck the young man who found her, only for him to survive. It would be because of this that Walter would appoint Lambo as her guardian and welcome him into the Endario Famiglia.

Lambo played the part for a couple of years. By the time he was ten, Walter treated him like a son, and he had grown close to Juliet, never having truly had a friend since the age of five. But his mission was never far from his mind. He was just waiting for the right moment, the right time.

That time came, and the Endario Famiglia fell. The static charge that had been building up in Lambo's body since that first contact with Juliet was unleashed and, one by one, the family members fell. The guards, while many in number, were unable to stop the raging lightning storm they had welcomed into their home and were subsequently fried to a crisp. Killing Walter had been easy enough, but Lambo's orders had been for none to be left alive.

This included the young Juliet.

When Lambo arrived back at the Varia mansion after a two years absence, it felt like he was slowly being ripped apart. A part of him screamed in grief as he was welcomed back by the ones who had bid him good bye - Lussuria giving him a giant hug and promising his favourites for dinner that night, while Gokudera simply gave him a pat on the back and a 'well done'. After reporting to Xanxus, Lambo returns to his bedroom for the first time in two years.

And curls up on his bed and cries.
