The Apprentice Three (Book Smarts VS Street Smarts)
It starts of with an amazing competition!
Let me introduce the members of each team...
MAGNA:
Todd (a Sales Manager from California)
Todd, 34, married with children, was born and raised in Brandon, Fla. with his younger brother. He holds a BA in Business from the University of Miami and is currently working as a sales manager. He became the #1 insurance sales agent at his company in just six months. Todd began his career working for "No Fear" athletic apparel where he was the youngest sales manager in company history.
Todd took inspiration from the hard work he witnessed as his single mother worked two jobs to support him and his brother. He figured out at an early age that the way to keep himself and his family comfortable was to get a great education and develop business savvy.
A man of integrity, Todd is not afraid to own up to his mistakes. He has a positive attitude and loves to motivate people. He is a firm believer in teamwork and says, "A group is only as strong as the unity in the group."
He also is a proven restaurant entrepreneur. He successfully started and sold his own restaurant - for a huge profit - in less than two years. He'll need to work swiftly again to convince Mr. Trump that he is the best candidate for the position of "The Apprentice".
Danny (a Marketing Tech. Firm Owner from Massachusetts, my hometown!)
Danny, 39, grew up in Cleveland where he left high school early to accept an academic scholarship to Cleveland State University. After earning his BA, Danny's creativity began to drive his academic and professional direction. He completed graduate coursework in music composition at Boston University, where he later joined the faculty, and studied at MIT's famed Media Lab.
Danny is a unique individual with a passion for business. He loves to come up with new and exciting ways to solve problems. His mother was a school teacher and always encouraged him to be different and creative. She told him to never look at a problem the same way everyone else does.
Danny's vision for combining art with commerce led him to develop several successful media and technology ventures. He is the founder, CEO and chief visionary for POPstick, a leader in innovating new media technologies.
When Danny is out of the boardroom, he can be found writing and performing rock operas and symphonies. His musical talents have earned him four national composition awards. Will his mixture of business savvy and creativity win him the highly sought after title of "The Apprentice"?
Verna (a Business Manager from Seattle)
Verna, 31, is married with children. She attended Jackson State University where she earned a degree in Business. She began her career in sales, demonstrating exceptional potential by delivering some of the highest figures in the company.
After moving to Washington State from Jackson, MS as a High School student, Verna promptly learned the importance of making friends and standing out in a crowd as her family moved from small town to small town. She quickly excelled in both academics and athletics. Eventually, she set several shot put and discus records at Jackson State University. She continues using her competitive edge in the business arena.
Pursuing her passion of Marketing Communications, Verna began working in the Information Technology field speaking to a variety of groups about the value of technology, and has presented on stage to live audiences of over 15,000 people. She is responsible for managing team members in the development of executive communications, website creation, event management, and presentation delivery.
Verna earned her MBA in Business Communications, and is now responsible for product management and simultaneously driving large-scale, multi-million dollar projects within the corporation. Verna will enter Trump Tower with no reservations or hesitations. She wholly intends to add the title "The Apprentice" to her long list of accomplishments.
Michael (Real Estate Developer from Massachusetts, once again, from my hometown!)
Michael, 25, currently lives in Boston. He completed his secondary education at The Pingree School in South Hamilton, MA, and earned his Bachelors Degree in Communications from Boston College in 2001.
Michael is constantly trying to head-butt the horizon. He is never satisfied with mediocrity, nor is he happy until he has reached the top. He prides himself on being the youngest Real Estate Developer in his area. At the age of 23 Michael launched Venture Development and Properties LLC, a real estate development and investment firm with residential and commercial projects throughout New England.
His father is a successful attorney, and encouraged Michael to go into law, but Michael had other ideas. His mother stayed home and raised six kids; a job in itself. Growing up he learned a lot of lessons about life from his four older brothers and one older sister. All five of his siblings now work in Real Estate or Law.
Michael plans to build his company into a national infrastructure as well as pursue an MBA. Before he checks those items off his list he plans to become "The Apprentice".
Erin (Attorney from Philadelphia)
Erin, 26, an accomplished corporate attorney, has represented some of the largest businesses in the world. She received her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law, where she participated in the prestigious Women Against Abuse Volunteer Attorney Program.
Erin lives by the "sneak attack" approach. She's attractive, bubbly, energetic, and funny, and as a direct result of these attributes she is constantly underestimated professionally. She's knowledgeable, informed, well researched, and savvy. Erin is tough and no-nonsense when she needs to be-- and she always gets the job done.
As an undergraduate, Erin attended the University of Miami and distinguished herself by earning a dual degree in Broadcasting and Political Science. During her tenure at Miami, Erin wrote for the Miami Hurricane newspaper and won the Most Outstanding Student Award in 2000. Currently, Erin is developing the first "All Women for Women" law firm focusing on issues including: domestic violence, child support, sexual harassment, pre-nuptial agreements and divorce.
A native of Pittsburgh, Erin currently resides in Center City Philadelphia. If she has her way, she'll be moving to a location of Donald Trump's choice to fulfill her responsibilities as "The Apprentice".
Stephanie (Supply Chain Consultant from California, website:
www.stephaniemyers.net)
Stephanie, 29, grew up in Tempe, Ariz. with a close-knit family. She attended Arizona State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Supply Chain Management (ASU's prestigious Business Program).
Stephanie has a versatile personality. She is often described as "fun and bouncy" and thrives on being the center of attention. On the other hand, she has a penchant for ruthlessly "speaking her mind and being brutally honest". She doesn't sugarcoat her opinions, and she's not afraid to relentlessly chase down her goals.
She knew that she had always wanted to pursue a career in business and management, and from an early age she set her sights on IBM. She is currently part of IBM's Corporate Supply Chain Organization, where she is identified as one of the top talented Global Supply Chain Consultants. Her business savvy, loyalty, integrity and strong negotiating skills have led her to successful inventory management programs; phenomenal client satisfaction and outstanding results in multi-million dollar contract negotiations. Her expertise is in Information Technology Outsourcing and Human Resource Outsourcing. If she has her way, she'll soon become an expert on the Trump Organization and become the next Apprentice.
Bren (Prosecutor from Memphis)
Bren, 32, is married with children. He was born and raised in Memphis, TN, and attended The University of Memphis where he received his BA. He then obtained his J.D. from the University of Memphis' Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.
Far from the fame and fortune of Fifth Avenue, Bren works in the world of drugs and thugs. Bren embraces confrontation, thrives on competition, and is not afraid to play the part of the bad guy. Leaving a lucrative career as a real estate closing attorney, Bren now serves as an Assistant District Attorney General. His job consists chiefly of prosecuting drug dealers and street thugs. Bren is genuinely feared by criminals and defense attorneys alike. Most of his cases go to court, where he enjoys confronting the law breakers who he sends to jail.
This bowtie sporting Southern original is sure to get noticed, whether crossing the courtroom floor in Memphis or traversing the streets of New York outside Trump Tower. Bren doesn't expect to be liked, but he does expect to impress Mr. Trump in his effort to become "The Apprentice".
Alex (Prosecutor from Seattle)
Alex, 29, was born and raised on an apple farm in Brewster, WA. After leaving a career as a nationally ranked skier, Alex studied archaeology at Jerusalem University and completed degrees in Theology and Latin at Seattle Pacific University, where he won an award for his weekly editorial column in the college paper.
With a powerful personality and strong convictions, Alex enjoys the true spirit of debate, and can be very persuasive. A true adventure seeker, Alex jumps into just about any extreme sport he can find.
While attending Jerusalem University, Alex and a friend experienced a suicide car bombing in a marketplace. He decided to return to the U.S. and study Theology and Latin at Seattle Pacific. Due to his affinity for confrontation, he spent much of his time in school stirring up issues with his professors.
In 2000, Alex moved to D.C. to lobby for the apple industry and successfully oversaw the entire bidding and shipping logistics for the USDA's first-ever purchase of fresh apples for inclusion in humanitarian food aid programs. Alex just received his J.D. degree from Seattle University School of Law, where he was the graduation speaker and President of the Federalist Society. His impressive list of titles includes Lawyer, Lobbyist, and President. Now he is determined to add "The Apprentice".
Kendra (Real Estate Broker from Florida)
Kendra, 26, is an ambitious and highly successful real estate entrepreneur. She obtained her undergraduate degree in linguistics from the University of Florida, and upon graduation became the founding Editor-in-Chief of an award-winning lifestyle magazine in South Florida.
She may appear to be a bubbly, blue-eyed blonde, but underneath that soft exterior lies an intense, perfectionist personality. Though her father was a top gun fighter pilot, it was her homemaker mother who taught her the most valuable life lessons. Through her mother, Kendra gathered the importance of education, and recognized that in order to be a strong, independent woman, she must learn to support herself.
After completing her degree, Kendra went on to obtain her real estate license, and incorporated her media expertise into the development of My House Real Estate, Inc. an innovative real estate marketing company specializing in condo conversions and land acquisitions. My House Real Estate, Inc.'s marketing strategies are virtually unparalleled, and have generated involvement in some of Florida's most sought after real estate.
Kendra is currently one of the highest producing real estate agents in the marketplace. She once sold 22 condos in less than a week. Additionally, she is "Special Agent 43" on My House, Florida's #1 real estate investment talk radio show on Clear Channel radio. There is no doubt this experience will come in handy as she attempts to talk Donald Trump into making her "The Apprentice".
NETWORTH:
Brian (Real Estate Broker from New Jersey)
Brian, 29, hails from Philadelphia and is a born salesman. He turned down a full paid scholarship to college and with only a high school diploma started his own business. A self-made millionaire from selling glow-in-the-dark necklaces, he now holds the federal trademark for GLOWLITES.
Brian was an entrepreneur from the early age of 7. He started by mowing lawns and shoveling snow in his neighborhood. He grew the business through his high school years and finally sold it after graduation.
He grew up in a blue-collar household in the mean streets of Philadelphia. Brian didn't like growing up in a home where they always had to worry about money, so he set out to make his millions. His irrepressible drive comes from his father who taught him to always be proud of himself and never fail due to a lack of effort.
At 5'4", Brian stands small in stature, but enormous in energy and passion. His mouth often works faster than his mind, and rarely does he take people's feelings into consideration when he speaks. He lives by the motto, "This is business. If you get your feelings hurt, get out!"
Brian is best described as an entrepreneur and is currently running five businesses, most notably a real estate office serving New Jersey and Pennsylvania. His most recent venture is the creation of Realadex, Inc., a company that manufactures cutting edge software for real estate professionals. In Brian's spare time he enjoys performing magic. What rabbits will he pull out of his hat in his attempt to become "The Apprentice"?
Kristen (Real Estate Financer from Los Angeles, LA)
Kristen, 31, is the top producer for one of the most prestigious real estate brokerage firms in Los Angeles. Helping her parents with their real estate businesses at age 11 inspired Kristen to realize that anything is possible if you work hard and believe in yourself.
She began attending college with the goal of becoming a lawyer, but withdrew when she decided she didn't want to be a low level employee at a law firm. After a few years waiting tables, she hit rock bottom and decided to make the leap into the business world. Kristen taught herself everything she needed to know by asking questions and reading books on real estate. Today she is an independent contractor working with some of the top real estate companies in the nation.
She is currently studying for her broker's license and has opened escrow on her third investment property. Kristen has a quick, sharp tongue, and confrontational style. Just tell her she can't do something and she'll do everything in her power to prove you wrong.
Originally from Fairfax, Va., Kristen's first love was competing as a hunter jumper in national equestrian competitions. The ultimate job interview looms as the biggest hurdle for her to jump in her quest to be "The Apprentice".
John (Technology Firm Owner from Tampa, Florida)
John, 32, grew up in Lake City, Fla. but has lived in some of the biggest cities in the country including Detroit, Atlanta and St. Louis. John currently owns two successful businesses in Florida--- an insurance agency, "United Insurance Solutions of Florida, Inc." and "Pattern Recognition Inc.," an Information Technology consulting firm.
John has a way of simultaneously lighting up a room and putting people at ease the second he meets them. But there is more to John than just charm and charisma. He is very business savvy and has a unique understanding of what makes people tick.
After a couple of years in school, John decided to pursue his hospitality management career full time. Over the next ten years John rose to the upper levels of management within a corporate chain, then opened and operated his own bars and restaurants.
Leaving the long nights of the bar business behind, John moved back to Florida to begin his current business ventures. He is always on the lookout for the next business deal and will use his charisma and opportunistic business sense to outshine his competition in the quest to become "The Apprentice".
Audrey (Real State Agent from Utah)
Audrey, 22, grew up in West Valley, Utah with her brother and sister. After her father returned from time spent in the military, he and her mother owned a business in town. They ran the successful operation for many years until some bad business dealings resulted in their incarceration. They were jailed for two years when Audrey was 18, so she took control of her family's assets.
She sold the family house for a $15,000 profit, and immediately caught the real estate bug. She was one of the youngest agents ever to be certified in Utah, and learned the game the hard way. After struggling to get clients, she finally sold a few houses. She relied heavily on her life experiences to get by and it has made her a very successful Real Estate Agent.
She is currently working on her broker's license while launching a non-profit organization for high school students to help them pursue their dream careers.
Audrey is outwardly opinionated and not afraid use sexuality to get ahead. She proclaims, "Looks get you there, brains keep you there." Even amongst the strongest of personalities she gets noticed. Her lack of education and big city experience may be an obstacle, but she is not accustomed to losing. She will most certainly put up a fight in her mission to become "The Apprentice".
Angie (Gym Franchise Owner from Lake Balboa)
Angie, 41, is a single mother who grew up in Miami. She opened the first Curves for Women health club in Los Angeles and currently owns two of them. Her most impressive business achievement thus far has been turning a $40,000 investment into $1.5 million market value within three years.
As a child, Angie inherited her hard working attitude from her father, and developed her versatile personality from living in Miami's multicultural society. She has an intimidating presence, but tempers it with a rich sense of humor.
Angie has had to wear many hats in her professional career. She was an assistant to an executive, a stand-up comedian, a mechanic, and a waitress before investing in Curves. She loves empowering women and making them feel good about themselves. She tries to unite women because she feels there is no room for cattiness and competition. This spunky, successful business woman has inspired other women with her story, saying, "You can do anything you put your mind to. Just get up off your ass and go out there and get it!"
Angie is also a professional cabaret singer and songwriter. She has made many national appearances and currently is publishing her own book of original songs. Will her tune ring true with Mr. Trump as she tries to become "The Apprentice"?
Tara (Senior Government Manager from New York)
Tara, 28, is the Senior Manager of Government and Community Relations for the Port Commerce Department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In this capacity she is responsible for managing the public relations for a multi-billion dollar port development project.
This young woman has made her mark in government not with any fancy degrees, but with determination and hard work. Tara can be the life of the party, but no one pushes her around. Despite her small frame and outgoing demeanor, Tara is someone who commands respect. She strives to outshine the rest in everything she does.
An only child from Hillside and North Brunswick, N.J., she was the first African American and the youngest person ever to serve as Director of Appointments in the Office of the New Jersey Governor. As Director of Appointments, she managed the process of gubernatorial appointments to over 500 boards and commissions.
Tara is used to working hard and using everything she's got to move ahead in the political world, and now she will attempt to use her driven mentality to move in to Trump's world.
Tana (Sales Executive from Des Moines)
Tana, 37, is a wife, mother of two, and successful entrepreneur. Her business savvy was first noted at the age of nine when she sold telephone accessories door-to-door and depleted her inventory in record time.
Tana is not shy about declaring her biggest motivator-- money. She has a yearning to outdo all competition, and the energy and drive to do so. She approaches challenges with no fear, and an eye focused directly on the prize.
A true entrepreneur, Tana is the owner of several start-up companies including a clothing store, a furniture store, and an internet commerce business. She has triumphed in every venture. Her positive energy transcends all her endeavors, and no doubt contributes greatly to her success.
Tana's highly competitive spirit has led her to be one of the top sales women in the Mary Kay Organization. Tana's strong work ethic has served her well in all aspects of life and she is a firm believer that you create your own destiny. She will now attempt to create a path that takes her straight to the title of "The Apprentice".
Craig (Shoe Shine Business Owner from Conley)
Craig, 37, has been married eleven years and is very proud of his four daughters. He was born in Gulfport, Miss., but raised in San Francisco. He has been exposed to cultural diversity his entire life. With a genuine understanding of people from all walks of life, Craig has never met a stranger, and he probably never will.
He is currently an EMT and firefighter working 24-hours a day, every third day. During his time off, Craig has become a standing partner in the "Pinnacle Entertainment Group," a music conglomerate. Craig also created and developed a modest shoeshine franchise entitled, "Peaceful Feet Shoe Shine Inc." With all of his business ventures, Craig still finds time to run his teen outreach programs and council other up-and-coming entrepreneurs. Partially due to his affinity for mentoring others, Craig firmly believes that he and Donald Trump are kindred spirits.
A devout Christian, Craig feels called up to lead people to the Lord. His competitors may use underhanded means to get ahead, but Craig will remain steadfast in his faith in the Lord and in himself. With a resolute determination in his heart, and a genuine beneficence in his soul, Craig will do his best to outshine the competition and rise to the top as "The Apprentice".
Chris (Real Estate Investor from Las Vegas)
Chris, 22, was born in Richfield, Utah and raised primarily in Las Vegas. After graduating from Silverado High School, Chris immediately concentrated on expanding his father's real estate business. After grossing just $25,000 in his first year on the job (at age 18), Chris now commands a portfolio of properties valued over $1 million.
A ball of energy and passion, he doesn't stop going from the moment he gets up in the morning to the second he goes to bed, and does it all wearing a smile from ear to ear. He knows his young age leaves him with a lot to prove, but he has proven himself to others his entire life. In his own words, "I'm 22 years old, and I'm going to make a million dollars this year."
Chris received an academic scholarship from UNLV, but only attended the university for two years. He felt he was wasting his time and money in school, and promptly dropped out. He believes his best education came from surviving his first year in the real estate business.
No one intimidates this eager young man. He competes every day with college educated business people and comes out ahead more often than not. He credits his parents for inspiring him to succeed and sees himself as a young Donald Trump. He hopes Donald will agree as he vies for the title of "The Apprentice".
EPISODE ONE: "Back To Basics" Burger King
It starts off with the naming of the two teams:
Books Smarts choose the name MAGNA, meaning the high college degree, magna cum laude, as you know, these books smarts are all college graduates...
Street Smarts choose the name NETWORTH for there profit is what is what the NET is WORTH and what they earn is WORTH as much smarts as they have, so NETWORTH popped into there bubbly heads.
The first task is the Burger King Task where they are to advertise and sell a triple cheese burger, MAGNA's Project Manager was TODD and NETWORTH's Project Manager is JOHN. NETWORTH came along smoothly with a creative idea. MAGNA however had a two problems, number one, only two people were assigned on the cash registers, which caused a long line of customers, number two, TODD wasnt able to control teammate DANNY's attitude towards advertising. Resulting to the win, NETWORTH won because of a high profit. Thus, MAGNA was sent to the boardroom, somebody will get fired. Then conclusions come up, majority of the team said that DANNY was the problem because of his incompetence, but DANNY and KENDRA say that TODD was the problem because of his leadership and KENDRA says he wasnt able to control DANNY. DONALD TRUMP then asks TODD to ask two people two join him back to the boardroom, he chooses DANNY and ALEX. They come back, when TRUMP asks TODD why he brought ALEX in because he was the one who assigned two cashiers to the register, TRUMP then blasts at ALEX, but of course, ALEX points out that the approval of this was from the Project Manager, TODD. Thus, TODD was fired because of his lack of leadership and strategy.
NETWORTH MAGNA
John Todd Alex Danny Todd
REMARKS:
I think TODD could have done a better job and could have even avoided being fired, I think Alex should have been fired because the two-person cashier positions were not stable, it wasnt able to serve all customers faster, but of course, you still have to blame the Project Manager for not review Alex's decision carefully.
