Happy Birthday, Jun-kun!

To my ichiban Jun-kun: Thank you for bringing me into the crack-filled, fun, inspirational, and loving world of Arashi. <3

Not only do i love the hard-working and passionate side of you, but also the gentle and sensitive side. You were always a little bit unsure of yourself at some points - which is probably why you put on airs and acted so cool - and it is sweet to see how you have grown more secure and confident over the years.

Which brings me to... Mannequin 5. Never has such a fashionable and ikemen suffered such humiliation. Why?? Well, I felt compelled to re-run the numbers.

A quick reminder of the outfits:

Now, here are the formal rankings across all five episodes:

Haru (2010.04.29)
Natsu (2010.08.26)
Haru (2011.03.31)
Aki (2011.10.20)
Haru (2012.04.12)

And who wins out with the averaged rankings:
  1. Nino
  2. Sho
  3. Ohno
  4. Jun
  5. Aiba
While Aiba hasn’t reached better than third place, Nino has never ended up with less than third place. Ohno has consistently been getting worse at the game, and Jun has a really bimodal distribution of rankings.

But... we know that Arashi *somehow* has a terrible tendency to cheat. (All in good fun, of course.) But let's see the formal rankings and averaged rankings without cheats:

Haru (2010.04.29)
Natsu (2010.08.26)

And check out the revised averaged rankings:
  1. Sho
  2. Nino
  3. Aiba
  4. Ohno / Jun
Hm. Here comes the analysis:

Aiba’s honesty managed to pay off and he moves into third. Sho edges out Nino because Nino also cheated when he won first place in the 3rd round.

Aiba and Sho are the most honest, though probably Aiba wins because Sho still uses strategy. I didn’t count the Aiba-disguise strategy as “cheating” per se because it still required him to put together a complete coordination without copied components.

Ohno tends to have the most cheating penalties. I wonder what this means… For most cheating penalties, the cheating resulted in a rank of first or second place, except for the case in which Ohno used the same version of Jun’s shirt. That somehow didn’t work out and landed Ohno in fourth place.

In the 4th round, everyone fought honestly. The rankings in the 4th round COMPLETELY match the cheating-excluded rankings, aside from the Ohno-Jun tie.

Unfortunately... this isn't entirely useful to helping Jun-kun's case. BUT. I actually like his stylings, personally. He's a style adventure, and isn't afraid to be loud in his choices or stick with his own sense of style. And for that, he gets my vote.
