Cake Fear, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Pie

It's a quiet day at work and I don't feel like attacking my backlog so I'm just going to sit on the internet and, apparently, read the comment threads on the Guardian website. Such vile pits of human depravity and self-delusion, but I just can't seem to stop reading ( Read more... )

procrastination is my middle name, links i like, obsession du jour, i like a fine whine

I sometimes get drawn to read the comments on news websites and always regret it. OK, if it's a completely non-controversial subject or something that only experts know anything about, then you get some sense, but mostly it's just people being vile and closed-minded. The yahoo comment thread on the teen date-rape advertisement story was a great example of bigotry and hate. Felt like puking.

I like writing when I make myself sit down and do it, but I procrastinate a lot. Also, ideas - yes, full plot - usually no. Therein is my undoing.

Yeah, the comments are always a mix of fascinating and horrifying. It's so depressing to realise how many really dick people there are in the world...

I am also a master procrastinator. I don't tend to plot anyway; I let a fic takes its own shape, but mostly its the sitting down and concentrating on something that is my downfall. I have no attention span at all.

You know I adore your writing, esp. Dean/Castiel. But I also know that you can only write what you're really inspired to write ... so here's hoping the inspiration and the motivation both strike at once. *hugs*

♥ You're too kind. :) It's not that I don't want to write just that I have no... motivation, nor time, nor energy. I think it helps to have people excited about your ideas so thank you. XD

Oh, if you need excitement to get you motivated, I will be your cheerleader till the cows come home! Honestly, I've always, always enjoyed your writing, so if you ever want to run something by someone, I'd be happy to encourage. I miss Dean/Castiel so much ... this season's been less than interesting, and yeah ... I really miss that dynamic, and I get that it's hard to keep being excited when the show itself doesn't care enough about the characters and fandom starts waning a bit.

But I will always read a good Dean/Cas story, and given that it's you ... I'll probably read anything. (Also, I just mainlined the season of Grimm so far - it's pretty awesome! Happy to see your icon!!)

It is. I do like this series well enough but without Cas there's no enthusiasm in me to the extent that there used to be, but I still love them dearly. I think this is why I am strangely turning to AUs. What kind of thing do you like to read, then?

Mmmmmm. Grimm. It's my new shiny obsession. :D

In a world where sinning isn't just fun it's an act of rebellion, Dean Winchester is Heaven's Enemy Number One. Enter Castiel, a young soldier recently assigned to the Anti-Immorality Unit on Earth, who's about to discover that what the Angels consider an act of evil might be just the thing his doubt- and his heart- were looking for.

We should make a list. Drinking. Eating shellfish. Coveting wives. Stealing. Laying with men...

Well now, if you're WANTING to write an AU, there's a very nice Noir/Gothic/Whatever almost-one I might be able to tempt you with... there's a whole plan for it and everything... :p

Yes, but, I suck too right now, so don't worry. I must have thought up at least 20 variations of Cas' return to the show and I want to read/write ALL OF THEM DAMN IT.

Also... I may be 1000 words into an AU of my own right now because of reasons, and I don't really like AUs either. Shhh.

*runs off to read your Grimm fic now I'm caught up*

BB, I know we have to get on that. Maybe we should arrange a writing day to sit together and write and shout at each other when we stop. Call each other ugly and vile Twilight fans or something should we even pause in our typing...

And what, pray tell, are you writing?

HOPE YOU LIKE IT!!

Oh, that icon. It reminds me of the good days...

Haha, perhaps we should get together for mutual writing/insults :p

But what am I writing? Well, you remember that spn-x-men conversation we had the other week... ;) It remains to be seen if it's a fic that ever sees the light of day. But it has some words to it now in any case!

And ah, the good old days. Will we ever see their like again?

Dean/Cas AU where angels are God's SEKRIT POLICE who come and get you if you sin. Dean couldn't last five minutes. Very true, also you should write this immediately because it would be amazing!

Dean/Cas AU where Cas is a hole-puncher and Dean is a stapler... And that reminds me of the SGA girl scout cookies fic, which I might go read now to cheer myself up.

(As a side note, will you be at the meet tomorrow, or do you still have early mother's day things planned?)
