European Socialism is the same kind of nonsence that had bred the 35 hour work week in France, that has produced a 12% unemployment rate.
European Socialism is the basis for which Tommy Douglas touted the Medicare system (socialised medicine) in Canada in the 1960's. Since then, for 32 million people, it costs US$90 billion per year.
This system has produced ER wait times of 6-8 hours, elective surgery wait times of 6-10 months, and closures of many smaller hospitals throughout the country. Many of their expectant mothers cross the border to have their children, because there aren't enough beds, even in large cities like Calgary. Many women in Saskatchewan and Manitoba are airlifted to hospitals in the US to give birth. For that same standard of care (which hasn't much improved since the 1980's), it would cost the American taxpayer up to $870 billion per year. That is the total cost of the Iraq theater of the War on Terror.
European Socialism suspends some civil liberties for the want of "diversity" and "multiculturalism". This kind of logic has bred the Civil Rights courts in Canada, and similar courts in South Africa. It is the place of the genesis of "hate crime" legislation, something that has infected our court system. It helps to abut the rights of religious people (mainly Christians) to believe and practice their faith.
European Socialism by way of Marxism, produces class warfare, which is the whole basis for Obama's redistribution of wealth pipe dream that he continues to spout from the campaign trail. The idea that because you make less than someone else, you are "oppressed", and the fact that you happen to make more than someone else, you are "selfish". This, they believe, gives them the right to take your money without your consent, and give it to someone else who may do very little to help themselves.
This direction is UN-AMERICAN. We are a nation of doers. We built this country through raw determination and entrepreneurial grit, not government handouts. That is why I am against it.
