Tense as fuck around the workplace today.
Funeral tomorrow. Not sure if I should embrace my aversion such gatherings, or if I should trust my better judgment and attend just so I can convey to co-workers and executives alike that I can publicly grieve along with the best of 'em.
The truth? I can't.
Grief, to me, is a very private coping mechanism. I'll take the deep, solitary philosophical ruminations that inevitably accompany unexpected death to the venial public sob parties that, to me, undermine the seriousness of the occasion any day.
