Divinations

So, I've been meaning to put together an exhaustive music update for awhile now, but I haven't been able to find the time to do so. I've been absolutely swamped at work, and I've been far too busy in my spare time watching the Nuggets kill it, worrying about money, eating terrible food, jerking off to bad internet porn, sleeping, showering, relaxing, shamefully buying CDs I can't afford, dealing with complicated ex-relationships, and hanging out in either Boulder or Denver for no reason other than the fact that it takes my mind off the pesky troubles of a mundane day-to-day existence. In other words, I've purposefully kept myself rather preoccupied lately, which has resulted in my neglecting this habitual blog of mine.

So, frankly, said exhaustive music update will have to wait.

What I will tell you is this...
I saw Mastodon for the sixth time tonight at the intimate (and rather crowded) Fox Theatre in scenic Boulder, CO and completely rekindled my passionate love affair with their stoned-out southern prog and gospel-rich melodic wankery.

Absolutely fucking phenomenal. And while there are likely too many to list (or even remember), a less-than-comprehensive list of highlights would no doubt include the following:• Intronaut
• Uh ... Laura Pleasants
• psychedelic projections
Crack the Skye from front to back
• 'The Wolf is Loose'
• 'Capillarian Crest'
• 'Sleeping Giant'
• 'Megalodon'
• 'March of the Fire Ants'
• 'HEARTS ALIVE'!
All in all, a fantastic evening courtesy of one of the finest American metal bands to emerge in the last decade. Yeah, it's true -- I always seem to forget how much I fucking love what they do until they manage to remind me in a manner most befitting...

I'd guess they would say we could set this world ablaze.
