Signs I've gone insane

Aug 09, 2009 20:12

In no particular order (chronological, ranked or otherwise). Just the order in which they came to mind.

1. Went fangirl for the first time in my life (I've never bought for myself a character from anything before). Couldn't decide which keychain of Hitsugaya Toushirou (from Bleach) I wanted at a little gamers/anime shop downstairs in the Kinokuniya building at Nihonmachi in San Francisco. I bought both. They were hiding inside my purse until last night when at gaming Heather pulled them out and attached one to my keychain and the other to my purse. Larry thinks its hilarious and says I have a female hard-on for the character. He's probably right, Toushirou is just too fucking awesome.

1 1/2. I've been watching the raw Bleach episodes out of Japan every week and have read all the manga.

1 3/4. Find that the Kinokuniya bookstore has a 30 foot wall of Yaoi but no Doujinshi section disappointing.

2. Thought that Gen buying the two-inch thick magazine full of gothic Japanese girls trying to look like gothic American girls (they can't pull it off, they just have this adorable KAWAII!!! factor that they can't get rid of) was neat. Even neater was what made her buy this particular one was the ice cream popsicle shaped hand-held battery powered fan that came with it as a prize. Yes, girly Japanese magazines come with prizes, and much better ones than a stinkin happy meal. I was tempted to go get one myself cause the popsicle fan was just too fucking adorable.

3. Said a few curse words at a bottle of Lychee Ramune. I couldn't pop the marble. (This cannot be explained. You have to have an imported bottle of Ramune to understand this.) Ended up getting help and finally getting to drink it while doing number 4.

4. I am scared of heights. Drove down a street that was so steep that after each intersection I COULD NOT SEE WHERE THE CAR WAS GOING. Looked like we'd just be driving off a cliff into the ocean. Go to googlemaps.com and find the intersection of Laguna and Washington in SF. Go to street view and head north on Laguna. HOLY FUCK! The street view still doesn't do it justice on how steep it really way. All while driving my mother's car.

5. Convinced Larry (Heather helped) to bleach his hair. He wanted to cut it. We didn't want him to. Going for the Lucius Malfoy blonde look. Almost there... just have to work out the turquoise and then use the white toner. Larry's hair was red. It was a dark blue a while back. Well, the red just covered the blue and didn't get rid of it. I used a bleach that was meant to get rid of red. The blue that was left (the area that had been roots when we dyed the hair blue) turned a brilliant shade of turquoise. Like a stripe horizontal across his head about the height of his ears.

6. Whether or not I teach this fall, at the very least the tips (read as bottom few inches) of my hair will end up a color called Shocking Blue. Possibly strips lining my face as well.

7. Am actually starting to look at local tattoo artists for what I want. What started out only going to be about 2x2 inches will likely ended up the entire bottom right quadrant of my back and top of my ass. I absolutely LOVE the artist Gen went to but I think driving to the city for multiple sessions and then driving myself back with a fresh tattoo on my back is not going to be pleasant (besides without traffic it being a nearly 2 hour drive and he isn't convenient to BART). His work is fucking amazing though.

8. Am also thinking about getting some small kanji/hiragana tattooed behind my right ear. Haven't settled on what yet (as I haven't figured out for sure if I want to), but have a good idea. 霧夢 or 霧の夢 (difference being basically 'mist dream' versus 'dream of mist'). There are some other possibilities but I am too lazy to look up the unicode for the kanji.

9. Went to a Rick Springsteen concert last Tuesday. Great concert. Holy shit is that man ripped for a 60yo. I don't know why it is on the list here, but it is.

10. Discussed with Heather knitting Tigger, aka Tiggy-baby (one of our cats), a newsboy style hat with ear holes and everything. Just need the yarn.

11. Discussed with Heather saving the fur we brush off of Lilbit, aka Bigbit (another cat of ours), to make him a sweater we can put on him after we give him a bath so Malcolm, aka Macho-man ('nother cat), doesn't hiss at him. Heather wants a spinning wheel first but otherwise its a go.

12. I am currently drinking Sunny D out of a gravy boat because no one wants to finish loading the dishwasher and it was either this or a tupperware bowl.

13. The power steering went out on my mother's car while driving home from the city Wednesday while going through Livermore on 580. I was driving. We were about to pull off the freeway anyway cause I had to pee. Come to find out it is all electric power steering and after fiddling with the terminals it turned back on fine. Was cautious and drove the rest of the way home in the slow lane. But just goes to show if something is going to go wrong in a car, its going to be while I am driving it.

14. Went to Safeway for chips and salsa. Came out with 10 cases of soda, a bag of potstickers, a 12 pack of ice cream sandwiches, goats milk, apple juice... and the chips and salsa. Larry went back later for another 5 cases of soda (they were buy 2 get 3 free plus a bag of tostitos free). We are now set for soda for a while (Dr. Pepper = Heather, Mtn Dew Game Fuel = Larry, Grape and Strawberry Crush = Me). They are stacked in a happy pyramid in the living room because I still havent put away all the snackies from Ichiban Kan which are in paper bags in the dining room where we normally stack the soda.

15. How to explain the logic behind using a sock to clean up over tissues to the guys at gaming last night because they didn't get it. Seriously, no one is going to think twice about another sock in the laundry but they will about a wastebasket full of tissues when you aren't sick. This prompted J (yes, his name is the letter J), to comment that he should empty his wastebasket more often. He has allergies and so legitimately has a reason to have a wastebasket full of tissue.

16. Number 15 is an example of normal conversation on Saturday nights.

17. I p'own at Munchkin. (Its a card game, seriously).

18. I got bored and wrote out the first versus and chorus of Mahou no Kotaba (Magic Words) in Japanese. My kanji still kinda stinks but my hiragana is getting pretty good.

19. Related to number 18, I geeked out at the Kinokuniya Bookstore when I found .03mm tipped pens. Trying to fit kanji that has upwards of 20 strokes on college rule paper requires a tiny tipped pen to be legible.

20. Got my Myspace stuck in Japanese. For those who think this would be a neat thing to try, let it be known that the Japanese change settings page is not a carbon copy of the English version but just in Japanese. It is TOTALLY different. Figured out how to go back and forth now. But that is my secret. MUHAHAHA! (I was playing with Japanese applications on Myspace and it kept having errors on the English site)

21. Decided that I just don't give a damn anymore. Not much more that I can explain on that. More like a state of mind.

(btw, there have been more than one trip to the city in the last month so not all the stuff from the city is from the same trip)

list, insane
