Some of my mini Year 7s had a bit of a soiree during final period today. After lunch we (some of the teaching assistants) were sent to one of the French rooms where we were greeted by small people speaking French. They welcomed us to 'La Cafe Francais', introduced themselves and asked who we were, to which we were to reply, in French of course. We were then ushered in and told to sit down and asked what we would like to drink. Je voudrais un verre du limonade, s'il vous plait. There were a whole bunch of teachers there, dunno who was looking after the rest of the school...
We were given biscuits, cake, sung to and they even performed a dance and a fashion show, all in French! I was so impressed! These are the kids with bad literacy and learning difficulties, and yet their French was pretty good for 11 year olds. I was so proud of them. They had obvioulsy worked so hard! I don't think I'd have had the guts to do that in front of a whole bunch of people when I was that age.
It's made me even more sad about leaving : (
