politics

My dad emailed me the other day asking me if he could donate some money in my name to his campaign (he is running for state rep in ID). He asked me earlier this year if I would donate my own money and I told him no because I didn't agree with his politics, and so this request really erked me. I spent a lot of time dwelling on it and finally decided to write him back.

Wow, Pops, I have been thinking about this request for the past week and I constantly end up with the same conclusion.
This is exactly what I hate about politicians!

It's never an honest race, it's a popularity contest as if the whole US of A is stuck in Jr. high school. Why can't politicians be honest? If people want to support you, then right the fuck on, and if you want to use your own money even better (wouldn't that prove even more so that you want this job??). What I don't understand is why earning more money than any other candidate is so sought after (especially if you lose, because that way the money doesn't mean shit, it was just a waste used to cut down more trees for your mail outs).

I want to support politicians that are a step ahead, that are doing things differently than everyone else (because everyone else in office isn't doing us a damn thing except digging us a deeper hole to eventually climb out of). I want to support honest politicians; politicians who don't need to spend their own money in a sneaky, run around way, ones that don't lie about their religious beliefs to gain supporters.

I don't understand your politics and if you weren't my father I wouldn't even give you the time of day to explain why I won't support you. But you are my dad, and I love you whole heartedly, and I feel you deserve a reason. I think you would probably do better than most people in Idaho, but that's not saying much now is it?

It's not a rat race, it's not a popularity contest, it's not a joke like so many politicians make it out to be. This is our government, and by corrupting it with lies and bullshit politicians are only bringing us further and further away from democracy. We are taught from 1st grade on that we live in the greatest country in the world, that we have the best government that works for the people. How can that be true when they start lying before they are even elected?

Who knows what he may say to me, but I'm sure I'm the least favorite child now. Ooooh no!!

Also while on this subject.....everyone should do their best to see the movie America: Freedom to Facsism. It's all about how our income taxes are a load of shit and you don't legally have to pay them! Our taxes are paying off interest from a bank loan the government took out forever ago because our founding fathers were too corrupt to use the money we already had. Wow, don't you just love being an American??
