I didn't want to leave them like that, but I had to get back to the house that had Cordelia and little Merrick in it. I'd only seen her once, but I still remembered what she looked like. I should call Alyx now, but I was going to wait, perhaps bring Merrick to her if ... everything was okay ... on that end. I wondered if Cordy was turned as well and I could feel my insides just clench at that feeling and my throat getting smaller and smaller. Why was this all happening ... and so fast and most of it? I didn't understand, none of it actually. Why all of this was happening. I was going to have to get with Wes and Gunn and Buffy and just work hard on this and try to get everything back to normal.
Even though part of me wants to ... leave Connor like this. I'd be able to give him another chance at life and it would be better, but in the end, I knew that couldn't happen.
Eventually, I showed up at the house where I found the kids and I sat there for a bit before turning off the car. I got out and walked around back to open the trunk and I grabbed a weapon, just in case. I didn't know what I was walking into and it was always better to be prepared. I walked into the house and it was dark, I imagined it would be anyway and I kinda saw it coming in. I heard muffled noises coming from the small room and I walked in a little closer until I finally saw it.
Cordelia being pinned down by a small girl ... by Merrick.
Vampire.
"Cordelia ... it's me, Angel," I said slowly and walked forward. I saw the look in Merricks eyes and I took a step back. Even though she was small, she was still dangerous and I was trying to save Cordelia, not get her killed. "Let her go," I demanded softly and held onto the axe that I had in my hand. Effective even though I'd rather have my sword. I liked that thing.
