That went absolutely smashing. In a way I was quite relieved to be absolved of the duty to watch Alexia. Let's be honest here, when it comes to teenagers I really wasn't any good. Had we learned nothing from the Sunnydale incident? Apparently not, considering that it was Buffy who asked me to watch her daughter. A child, a girl who had been small and vulnerable in my hands only a week ago. Was it even a week? A child who carried around Faith's soul, a child who was unlike other children.
I had to agree with that Riley chap, she had a right to know. But I also understood Buffy in her reluctance to pull her child into her dangerous world. The need to protect and keep her shielded to enjoy her childhood for as long as she can. But she needed to know the dangers, especially the daughter of a Slayer. It's quite the contrary and I don't envy their choices, whichever one they end up making.
Once I more or less fled the house, I made my way over to the car. And now what? Go back to work I suppose. I should check in on Angel, see how far he's gotten with his...whatever it is he's doing. Puling out my cell I checked my messages, dismissing most of them except the one from Angel. Angel. Leaving a text message on my cell phone. Hell must've frozen over. Or it was very important.
The later appeared to be true as I froze in my steps and read the short line he'd managed to send. Gunn was in the hospital and then the name of said hospital. Gunn was in the hospital? Why? What happened? Oh god. I looked up, squashing down on that familiar feeling of panic. Then I pocketed my cell and jogged toward the car. Pulling away from the house, I broke several speed limits to make it to the hospital as fast as I could.
Throwing the car in the first available free spot, I jumped out and ran inside to the font desk. I took me some effort for them to finally give me his damn room number. For some reason they didn't believe that I was family. Odd that. Luckily my glaring still seems to have an effect on some people. The girl behind the desk quickly looked up the room number and then directed me toward it. Of course I was already on my way there before she was even halfway. Skidding to a halt at his room, I hesitantly knocked on the door and the carefully poked my head around it.
"Gunn?"
