Love is not tender
It does not carress you in the darkness of night
It does not bid your nightmares farewell
Or make the day seem less tedious
Love is not a fairy tale
Constructed by a delicate author
Composed using the finest ink
Moments compiled by generous Editors
Love is not a question
Nor an answer
It's not anything grand
It's no philosopher's masterpiece
It keeps me up
It makes me toss and turn
It makes me wonder
It makes me think
It turns me from a man into an animal
And from an animal into a beast
The thought of it makes my heart bleed and my mind turn
I can't imagine what the acquisition of such a thing would do
Love is more than itself
It's a poet's life
A singer's score
A politician's motivation
It is a feeling that drips into all the others
So even if it's not there in it's purest form
It's effects taunt even those furthest from it
And nobody understands
What I mean
Or what I'm going through
Or what this is about
Because love
Is something everybody claims to have
Yet if they did,
Why do they so vociferously chase after it?
And I am like a toddler
Crying
Looking up at the helium propelled bulb
When only a few moments ago
I let go of the string
Wondering what would happen
