Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Ichiru is 5'11” in height. He’s fairly thin and pale in color, but he’s well built. Years of training have honed his muscles in a soft but prominent way.
2. How old is he?
17 but mentally older. Head-canon birthday: March 28th, 1991 (chronologically speaking)
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
During the years he spent in Shizuka-sama’s presence Ichiru has carried himself as any good servant would. Impeccable posture although at times it seems to slip into a more relaxed state but he is not known for slouching.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Ichiru’s immune system had been fairly non-existent from birth up until the tender age of 13 when he began to drink Shizuka’s blood. With the vampire’s blood he grew better and was able to train in a way he couldn’t before.
There are no illnesses or disabilities but he is cursed.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Ichiru is very graceful and walks very quietly.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Ichiru is quite attractive by human standards, although usually when he looks in the mirror all he can see is the younger identical, worthless twin of his brother.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Pale, as he stayed inside for most of his life.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
He has soft silver hair, it falls low over his eyes and gets longer in the back, but stops at the nape of his neck.
9. What color are his eyes?
A shade darker than his hair.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
None.
11. What are his chief tension centers?
His back and when extremely tense his temples.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Ichiru tends to stick to long coats with high collars, long sleeved shirts also with high collars and casual slacks. His coat is usually dark brown or black while his shirt can be pastel colors or white, his pants are black or gray depending on the color of his coat.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
His clothes are slightly loose but just enough not to cling to him. At least not most of the time. A few shirts are tight around his torso and his pants almost always hug his hips and abdomen.
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
The only time his clothes change are when he goes to school where uniforms are required.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Boxers.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Ichiru has a mid-ranged voice, although it’s very easy to slip into a deeper tone when angered or aroused.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Again, mid-ranged in volume - not too soft or too loud. Words usually come easy to Ichiru, although there are a few subjects where he hesitates over what to say.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Ichiru has adapted his words to match whatever language he speaks, so no visible accents unless one searches very hard.
He has no quirks or verbal tics.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Japanese is his first language so it’s quite natural to him.
English is the second language he learned to speak and he’s been speaking it for several years now.
Italian is his third language and he’s quite fluent.
French and even Spanish although to a lesser extent.
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
He usually only speaks Japanese, but English comes as a close second.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
Ichiru excels at impromptu speaking most of the time, although the more pain he’s feeling the more he has to pause as to what to say.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
He’s very eloquent, although when pained there’s a rare chance that he’ll stumble over the words he wants to say.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Ichiru is very intelligent. Having nothing to do while growing up sick books became his solace when he was alone, a lot of his intelligence lies in the medical profession while other knowledge was only experienced in the last four years. He may be aware that danger lies in wait for him but it doesn’t stop him from approaching it.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
While he is quick to think in the middle of a situation it perhaps becomes over-thought and hinders his physical abilities.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Ichiru’s mind is always at work thinking something over, this can range from important information being processed or something completely nonsensical like a story he once read.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
While he attended school as a child he was more then often sick and ended up in the Nurse’s office. He was mostly self-taught and home-schooled with the help of his brother. The twin’s teacher Yagari taught them more of Vampire Hunter’s ways.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Ichiru is well-versed in the vampire ways of his world, and as long as it’s new he wants to learn about it.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert, he has a close circle of friends while everyone is spoken to politely. He is good at pretending to be getting close to someone.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Ichiru seems to be cool and composed most of the time, but anyone who he’s close to can see the emotions flicking across his face in small ways. Only rarely does he allow those emotions to show to the world.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
He’s very fake when presented with new people, pretending as if he’s a perfectly out-going type of male while inside he’s analyzing everything they do. New situations get approached with extreme caution and fake acceptance.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Both depending on the situation. If he believes that the other person won’t do it then he’ll take matters into his own hands while at other times he’s left to react to what’s going on.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Again, both. If it’s for his own sake Ichiru is more likely to fight, but if the life of someone else is at risk he’ll flee.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Ichiru has a refined sense of humor, normal crude jokes are brushed aside as idiotic. If he makes a joke it tends to fit in with the situation.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Ichiru firmly believes that he should not exist, that Zero should have devoured his strength back in the womb so he tends to not care about what happens to his own life. He also thinks that they are cursed and that so long as both of them live they will only cause each other more pain.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
Prior to his canon turning point Ichiru was brought to the Facility where he made the same choice as the one he had yet to make back home. He followed someone for power, and for the sake of someone he loved was killed to try and protect them. However he was brought back to life to see the after effects his death caused, while it cemented his resolve in the Facility to never do it again when he returned home that resolve was lost and the same choice was gone through once more. Although he has yet to sacrifice his life for someone he loves.
Shizuka’s death is also a major turning point, sent him bent on revenge on Rido.
14. What does he fear?
Losing those important to him. Currently returning home to finish off the last few months of his life.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
To be able to leave the Facility feeling satisfied with everything he’s done. Ichiru wishes for the happiness of the ones he cares for, even if they know of his impending death.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
Exactly how he dies. The exact details of the night his parents were murdered by Shizuka. Or the reason Zero became a vampire over dying like their parents.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Ichiru was never really close with his parents, despite the fact that they loved him immensely. He always claimed that he never needed anyone to love him but Zero. When he was thirteen, after arriving at the Facility the first time he overheard them call him useless as a Vampire Hunter and that he couldn’t walk the same path as Zero. Because they’re dead he feels that even if he wanted to reconcile it would be too late.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
One blood-related brother, Zero. When they were growing up the two were quite close, however when they were thirteen and their happy family fell apart, Ichiru and Zero became separated by not only physical distance but by emotional distance as well.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
It’s just the four of them.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
Ishtar was one of the few people he considers like family. At one point an older sister and now as a younger one.
Cloud started out as an older brother, someone he looked up to and admired but recently that title has fallen away although he’s unsure of what their relationship resembles now.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Maria is his best friend. They first met when Shizuka needed a body to hide in and as one of her relatives Maria was the best option for the plan she had in mind. When Shizuka wasn’t inhabiting Maria’s body the two would talk in length.
6. Does he have other close friends?
Josh is fairly close as far as friends go, so far everyone else is just an acquaintance. Several of the other friends he had have already returned to their worlds and mostly likely won’t return with memories intact.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Ichiru has never truly made friends easily, but he can pretend as if they’re the best of friends. While he’s not awkwardly social in any way and could easily make as many friends as he wants Ichiru himself can just not bring himself to get close in return.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Neither. All of those of importance are meticulously hand-selected over a period of time.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Single and always has been.
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Nope, although he is drawn to Cloud.
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Shizuku Hio. Cloud Strife.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
Everything that he isn’t, while still sharing interests and a few traits. Strong, genuinely out-going, protective but sometimes oblivious to their own needs over those of others.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
None.
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Rido was who Shizuka was after and eventually Rido will be the start of Ichiru’s downfall.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
Ichiru is polysexual and is less focused on gender and more on the idea of the type of person they are. He’s prone to lean towards those who are classified as ‘protectors’ , have a calming effect on him - at least in the ways of actually falling in love are concerned.
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
Sex is not a necessity in his life and while he believes that casual sex is not for him it really doesn’t bother him if others are discussing it or displaying it.
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Ichiru has a fascination with biting - from light nibbles to drawing blood. He is also obsessed with collar bones and the area just under the joint of the jaw bone.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
Cancer, like the sign describes, Ichiru had grown an outer shell as protection of his feelings not letting anyone in. However once someone enters that small circle he’s fiercely loyal and doesn’t let go easily. Emotions run deep for the Cancer and the smallest of them shake them down to every remaining fiber. When hurt or disappointed he tends to withdraw and becomes unreachable for a period of time. While he’s kind and generous to others, each situation is carefully examined for other options before offering up his own assistance.

Daily Life

Never in his life has Ichiru wanted for money to buy things. He’s not very materialistic, unless he acquires and item with sentimental value.
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
He was born as a Vampire Hunter, but Ichiru became a Pureblood’s human servant.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
Ichiru’s last place of residence before coming to the Facility was Cross Academy and Maria’s family’s estate.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Books, movies, sheet music.
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
While it’s not exactly a living, Ichiru spent the last four years of his life serving Shizuka.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
Ichiru enjoys reading, and spending time with those important to him. He likes cooking and even learned to play the violin.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He’s prone to skipping meals when it’s just him, but if there’s someone else for him to feed Ichiru will gladly eat with them. Usually he doesn’t drink alcohol but he got drunk during New Year’s Eve. Ichiru doesn’t like a lot of sweets or even junk food in general but he does enjoy them on occasion. His favorite and yet slightly heartbreaking meal is a type of Japanese vegetable soup.
