Blood and Ash
Ron remembers the first time Harry kissed him, with his lips tasting of dust and his tongue of ash, and flashes of green against the backs of his eyelids. Harry’s fingertips were firm against his jaw, smearing someone else’s blood across the pale skin of Ron’s throat. His heart hammered frantically in his ears, drowning out the sounds of battle.
When he pulled away, Harry looked older than his twenty-one years, and not just because ash had turned his hair powdery grey. “Don’t do anything so fucking stupid ever again,” he threatened.
And Ron promised, because he was a liar.
