my mom sent me this. my aunt is a nurse and spends a lot of her time helping out in various countries.

some of these items are things we might throw out as trash or have a few of because they are cheap for us to buy. please consider donating stuff that you have lying around and don't really need/use.......

URGENTLY WANTED for my sister's medical team going to El Salvador, Haiti, Peru, Africa, etc on medical trips - training and treating local people in remote unserved areas with no medical care. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, opticians and translators make up the teams going to other countries.

About twenty different small (20) medical teams who do this work share a donated warehouse, in the Stratford Ontario area, and they all do both the sorting and packing, as well as transporting the items when the medical teams travel to work in other countries. NONE of the members are paid. In fact, they pay for their trips themselves - several thousand dollars every year (some get a $500 tax receipt from one group only)

Her group is not a registered charity - so NO tax receipts are available.

EVERYTHING MUST BE IN REASONABLE CONDITION. (All stuff that goes in the trash here - but in poor countries is unobtainable and unaffordable for those who need it)

· Nail clippers,
· small mirrors (for people with diabetes to check the bottoms of their feet)
· eyeglasses, sunglasses, glasses cases, separate eyeglass lenses (an optician fixes them and checks prescriptions)
· crutches,
· canes,
· splints,
· air casts
· walkers,
· wheelchairs,
· prosthetics
· prescription meds and vitamins(recently or unexpired)
· diabetes testing equipment
· wound care stuff and first aid equipement
· asthma gear, including compressors, masks, tubing
· cloth sunhats (kids and women's)
· unused toothbrushes in packages, same for dental floss,

· rectangular covered (clean) kitty litter containers (for packing and use as there as water buckets),
· rectangular plastic salad "shells" or clean rectangular margarine tubs for packing gear to send - and reuse down there by local people.
· Crayons, coloured pencils, drawing books, small safe toys for gifts for children after they have been treated, or given inoculations.

You have to deliver to me - contact me through a message or email at greenowl @ sympatico.ca Delivery to Toronto area - or Stratford Ontario.

Thanks to all who help out!
