Who: Sakura and Kakashi
When: Thursday at lunch
Where: In the cafeteria
Summary: Sakura gets yet another surprise
Warnings: None really. Mentioning of skinny-dipping, that's all.

Kakashi was in the cafeteria about midday - he had grabbed a bit to eat and was now seated, going over the homework he had to make up. The pale haired student sighed and placed the sheet of paper in a folder. He would worry about that later; most were essays and he could turn those out pretty easily - it wouldn't be his best work but they would be decent enough.

He placed the folder in his book bag and collected his garbage, tossing it as he searched for a head of pink hair. It wasn't terribly hard to spot; and Kakashi smiled a bit as he came up behind Sakura and then simply sat down next to her. "Yo."

Sakura had been sitting in deep thoughts, having a lot of things to think about, so she hadn't noticed Kakashi coming up behind her. When she heard the familiar voice she blinked and then looked up. "Hi!" With a big smile on her face she gave him a small hug. "How are you? I'm sorry I didn't come visit you more than I did," she immediately started to apologize. Sakura felt that she should have visited him more often, but somehow she just never managed to get the time to do that.

Kakashi returned the hug and smiled a bit. "That's okay; I wasn't really that lucid most of the time. I probably wouldn't have noticed." he admitted. He took his book bag and put it between his feet and looked at her. "How are things?"

"Still... I should have visited you more often," she insisted. Shrugging she leaned on the back of the chair. "Things are fine. Naruto and I are friends again. I'm happy we managed to fix that - I'm happy that he's willing to be friends with me even though I broke up with him." Sakura smiled lopsidedly. She had really been worried that their friendship wouldn't survive that and now she was happy and relieved that it had. "School is going great, as usual. Anything else you want to know?" Tilting her head she looked at the older student.

"Not really." Kakashi shook his head and smiled. "I am glad to hear you and Naruto are doing well." It made this a tad easier. He wasn't sure if Naruto would have a problem with what he was about to do...but Kakashi was determined now. Watching her with Naruto had been...incredibly hard. Harder than he had ever imagined. "You busy this weekend?"

"Nope, the only thing I have planned is the sleepover with the girls. Why?" Sakura gave Kakashi a curious look, wondering what he was going suggest that they should do. She hoped that he was going to offer her that night ride he had promised her.

Kakashi glanced at her and then leaned forward, elbows resting on the table. He smiled a bit. "You want to ride into town; Saturday maybe?" he asked softly, looking at her from behind his sunglasses.

"Sure! You know that I love riding on that bike with you," she said, smiling. "What are we going to do?" Still smiling she looked him in the eyes, not yet realizing what he had really asked.

Kakashi chuckled - both at her eagerness and at his own nervousness. Funny really. To him at least. "Well..." he looked at her again. "I was thinking about dinner. Maybe a walk. Nothing really fancy." Sakura was smart - she'd have to get an idea from that. He thought so. Perhaps he was being too vague.

He didn't mean...did he? Sakura opened her mouth to say something but then closed it again, looking a bit uncertain. "Are...you asking me out on a date, Kakashi-senpai?" she asked hestiantly. What was it with her best guy friends falling for her, wanting to date her? First Naruto, then Jin and now Kakashi. There was definitely something in the water here. Well... At least I know that Sasuke-kun won't do something like this.

"Yeah." He said, nodding slowly. "I probably should have asked you a long time ago." He added. The man straightened and turned to look at her. "So, do you want too? If not, that's fine. But I had to ask." Kakashi was sure about this now. He was only asking for one date and if he was fortunate, then perhaps more after that. Perhaps. It depended on her answer.

So he was really asking her out on a date. Sakura opened and closed her mouth a couple of times. After a few moments she started chewing on her lip, a sure sign of her being nervous. What should I do? What will Naruto think? Although it's only a date... It can't hurt, can it? She had sworn to herself never to hurt Naruto that much again and she had no idea how he would react to her going out on a date with Kakashi. "So you were serious at that time... But didn't you say that you would have asked me out if I was older? I haven't aged anything more than a month or so since that time, so what is different now?" She didn't realize that she hadn't answered his question; she just wanted to know what had brought this up now.

"...Seeing you with Naruto..." Kakashi said quietly. "Was...one of the hardest things I had to do. I realized that I was being a fool; that I'd simply been making excuses to myself to keep me from doing something...that I wasn't ready for." He looked at her. "I know this is a pretty odd and that what I said then and what I said now is very different. I think I'm guilty of still seeing you as a twelve year old sometimes; that isn't fair."

Sakura couldn't help but roll her eyes as his last statement. She had suspected as much, but it still annoyed her a little. "I'm sorry you had to go through that," she then said. "But to answer your question...sure." She gave Kakashi a small smile. What did she have to lose? After all, it was only a date. Frowning a little she decided that it was for the best if she talked to Naruto first; if he was against it she wasn't sure if she would go through it.

"It's not your fault; so there's nothing to apologize for." Kakashi said. His shoulders just barely relaxed and he smiled again. "Okay then." he nodded slowly. "It's a date." There was a pause. "Cue the awkwardness."

That made her chuckle. "I think I've gotten used to that by now. Third time's the charm, ne?" Sakura gave him a wink, not wanting this moment to be too awkward. "So what time had you planned the date for? I have a feeling that I'm going to sleep in pretty late for once, if the sleepover turns out the way I think it will," Sakura said, shaking her head and smiling. Sleepovers with only girls had a tendency to get very...well..girly and she had a feeling that they would stay up all night chatting.

"Not till the evening. Six good for you?" he asked, looking at her. Kakashi grinned at the wink and very nearly chuckled. It was...cute.

She shrugged, that was quite late, but it seemed to be enough time for them to get back before curfew. "Sounds good. Shall we meet out in the yard or will you come down to get me?" Sakura preferred to have things planned, not wanting things to get confusing or wanting to risk missing the other person.

"I'll come get you." Kakashi said. "Any ideas on what you'd like to eat?"

Putting her hand on her chin she thought about it for a while. "Hmm... I'm not sure... What about Thai?" she asked, not wanting to make the decision all by herself.

"Sounds good." Kakashi said with a nod. "Is there anything you want to do besides dinner?"

Something else beside dinner? What could that be? There was nothing interesting showing in the movies, so there was not much else they could do. Then she grinned, wanting to tease him a bit. "We can always go to the beach and take a late swim."

He grinned back. "If you really want too, I think I could accommodate you, Sakura-chan."

"Good. The water was nice and warm when I went there with Jin the other day, so it should be nice even in the evening. I'll be sure to wear my bikini under my clothes then." Sakura kept on grinning, not one to step down from this - she was the one who had suggested it, so now she was going to stand by it.

"Sounds good." Kakashi said nodding, then his eye twinkled behind his glasses. "Unless of course you'd rather go skinny-dipping. That could be arranged as well." He was teasing now, admittedly trying to get her to blush. That was cute too. Although it felt a little funny to finally be flirting with her.

It wasn't that often that Sakura blushed when Kakashi were teasing like this - she was used to his teasing, so used so she assumed that almost everything he said was a joke - but now she was unable to hold it back. "Is that a challenge?" she asked still blushing but looking him in the eyes and raising an eyebrow.

She was taking this seriously? Maybe he needed to learn to lighten his words a bit. Kakashi stared at her for a moment and then said, "What if it is?"

Putting her elbow on the table and leaning her head in her hand, Sakura leaned slightly forward and gave him a smile. "Sure." She was pretty sure that he was only teasing her and now was the perfect chance to see if he was If he was indeed serious... Well, that was something she had to handle then, no use in worrying about that now.

Kakashi looked at her and then leaned forward slightly in response. He studied her for a moment and then smiled again. "Are you sure?" He asked, just a tad languidly. "It can be fun but I don't want you to over do anything."

Sakura shrugged, still not able to fight down her blush completely. "There's a first time for everything, right? I might as well try it out now." Had she thought this through? Not really, but she had gotten herself into this situation and there was no way she was going to back out.

Kakashi was torn. He was enjoying seeing her blush and the careful nonchalance of her actions but he did feel as if he were pushing just a tad far. "...We don't have to Sakura." He smiled a tad quietly. "I was just teasing."

"Coward," she teased, sticking her tongue out at him. A small part of her was relieved, but mostly she was a bit disappointed. It would have been...interesting at least. So giving Kakashi a smile, Sakura showed him that it was up to him, that she would go through this if he just said something.

He laughed. "Oh, so now you're accusing me of having cold feet?" He chuckled. "Well...bring your suit just in case. We may need it and we might not."

"As you wish, senpai." Sakura couldn't help but join in on the laughter. This wasn't really the kind of discussion she had expected them to have, but somehow she wasn't surprised that it had turned out like this. I wonder which bikini I should bring...

Kakashi nodded and stood, grabbing his book back. "Well, I'll see you later." he said with a smile as he slung it over his shoulder.

"Aww... You have to go already?" Sakura pouted, but looking at her watch she realized that it was about time to get ready for her too. So picking up her book bag she stood up. "I guess I'll see you on Saturday then, if we don't happen to meet before that, that is."

"I'm sure we'll see each other sooner, but yes, definitely on Saturday." Kakashi's smiled warmed a bit as he watched her stand. "Where are you headed?"

"I have Latin now. What class do you have now?" she asked, not quite sure of how his schedule looked. Latin wasn't her favorite subject exactly, but she knew that she could have use for it when she started studying medicine.

"Education I." Kakashi said with a slight grimace. "And Economics after that."

Sakura patted him on the back. "I'm sure it's not that bad," she said with a smile. "I have art after Latin IV, that is kind of a relief, but at the same time art is my worst subject." Sakura made a face at the mentioning of art. If it wasn't for that she would have 4.0 in GPA instead of 3.9

Kakashi chuckled. "I'll get to take some more interesting classes next semester. I'm just getting some of the requirements out of the way." He took a breath and nodded. "Have a good time at your sleepover...tomorrow?"

"I don't get to take any interesting classes until next year..." Sakura pouted but then smiled and nodded. "I will. You have fun with whatever you're going to do tomorrow."

Kakashi nodded and walked off, throwing a wave over his shoulder. His casual way of saying good bye.

Sakura shook her head at Kakashi's back and started walking towards her classroom, a small smile on her face.
