I just finished Utena again.
It's been years since I've seen it all.
Finished it again.
I think several things.
A) The mysteries behind the series are themselves a form of misdirection to direct the viewer away from the bigger message.
B) The bigger message is very simple. Never ever forget others, and try to break out of your self. The world around you isn't the same world as everyone else, but never forget to look out for yourself.
C) Despite A, I think the series can be well understood as to what's going on. Particularly in context of B.
