(no subject)
so, the craft fair was pretty much a bust.
we went to where we thought it was (the place the guy told us) and... nothing was there. there was one guy there though and he made a phone call and sent us in the right direction. he was really nice and had some cute dogs.
we get to the place and we end up in the boonies. this was outside mind you (no where on the information were we told it was outdoors) near the beach. pretty place, nice weather. a bit windy, which sucked because we're selling fabric crafts and they kept blowing away. the giant unbrella kept blowing over until we put a giant concrete block on the stand. also we needed blocks to hold up one of the displays. next time we're selling paperweights i kept saying.
everyone seemed to have these professional setups and we were... well, not so professional. sort of low-class actually. redneck. white trash. ghetto, if you will. four booths were selling jewelery. there were maybe a dozen booths overall. then there were pony rides, summer food, this awesome little train gimmick made out of recycled 55-gallon drums, and one of those blow-up castles kids bounce around in.
we sold almost nothing. we got a lot of complents and some suggestions but hardly any sales. we made $20, minus what we paid for the table. so... not much. by the end of the day my sister and i were giving people discounts (and i think that's how we made anything).
there was a band playing. they weren't bad, just delightfully generic.
i ended up with a really bad sunburn. which is fucked up because i spent most of the day under the umbrella. i haven't gotten a burn in years. i don't usually get burnt. oy. it's quite painful. bra straps are my enemy now.
and sunday was completely rained out.
so pretty much, we worked our asses off for so little. story of my life it seems. it wasn't a bad time, just disappointing overall.
i'm going to try and sell some of the stuff outside my house on the sidewalk. they're cheap dollar items, like little bags, scrunchies, friendship bracelets, and cheap beaded necklaces. i have some nice potholders too.
