So much more love, effort, and time get put into cell animation. The background scenery is always so much prettier. Plus, Disney's old animators used to study the human models or the animals in the Disney Zoo for months to learn their behaviors and motions so they could transfer them into cartoons. I think that the artists really drew the emotions into the old Disney classics (and other movies, like the original Land Before Time for example) and that's why the movies are so touching.
The new CGI animation, on the other hand, is very unrealistic. The characters are too perfectly shaped. They're either too round, or too square, or too straight. Nothing's life-like. The backgrounds are rather plain and tasteless too. Even the stories have gotten crappier. It seems like recently there's been no love put into any of the cartoon films.
