Christmas is here! Last night was awesome. We ate dinner, I called my friend to get a clue what to get her daughter as a gift, and then at 9PM we headed out to shop. First stop, Best Buy. They were open until 11PM. Fabulous! We were in there for a little over half an hour, and it wasn't terribly crowded. No real lines to check out. Very cool. Then across the street to Home Depot (gift card time), and just as I got in there and to a register, they announced they were closing in 15 minutes. Perfect timing! From there, we drove the 12 miles or so to the Burlington Mall. Which was open until 11PM, so we had about 45 minutes to do some shopping. We picked up a game that we've been searching for (like for the past 4 weeks), I took a turn in Lane Bryant, and then ended up at Sears. I found a blazer and two skirts that interested me, so just as Sears was announcing the 15-minutes-to-close, I headed to the dressing room and decided I needed all three items. We got out of Sears about 5 minutes 'til 11. Sweet. I love no lines and no crowds! Last stop for the night was Kohl's, which was open until midnight. We spent almost the entire hour there, mostly looking at clothes for me. I found several shirts, a sweater, a turtleneck, a belt, and many pairs of socks, and some PJ bottoms (my legs are so long, it's a pain in the butt to find pants of any kind to fit, much less pajamas). A very good shopping trip. Got out of there spending another hundred dollars, but to have no waits, no crowds, and "night owl" special pricing, I was very happy.

So today we slept in a bit, then Theron went to work. I spent the bulk of my day doing laundry (5 loads!) and finishing up crocheting this baby afghan. At 7PM I was finishing up the last couple of stitches. DONE! It's very unconventional for a baby blanket, but I think a couple of people will find it perfectly appropriate. It's a ripple (so it's wavy) with white and orange stripes. Go UT.

And since then, we've been busting out getting gifts wrapped. I'm having a hell of a time figuring out how to wrap these large framed posters. Even worse is going to be wrapping up an antique map, that isn't framed or anything! It's in plastic and the guy at the Michael's framing counter gave me a really large piece of cardboard to help protect the map until it does get framed. The cost was out of our price range for this gift, so hopefully it will survive the drive to Tennessee, and then the drive to Chicago! It's almost 150 years old, and the edges are a little worn, but considering we got it for 50% off (orignally a $50 map) at the antiquarian book store, we're pretty pleased with it. I hope my brother-in-law likes it as much as we do!

That's the extent of my day. We have so much to do tomorrow! My brother is coming over sometime after noon to exchange gifts since we won't be together for Christmas, and we need to meet up with my friend to exchange gifts with her and her daughter, and at some point we need a few hours to clean clean clean this house! I hate coming home from a vacation to a filthy house, and right now, I'm embarrassed to have anyone see it. I think I'll be vacuuming at 10AM so Devin doesn't see it like this.

Now, don't you wish you were me?
