Back to So Cal and a Birthday

Jan 30, 2011 23:04

OK, a bit of an update is in order (as well as more pictures of course!). I met the guy that is supposed to be the division heads boss. A good guy from what I can tell. I don't think I would have any problems working for him. I also got the impression that he liked me as well so if the decision came to him about whether to take me on full time or not, he will hopefully have great confidence in doing so.

The problem is that we are only allowed three people out here in DC at any time for this project. That's one for my job, one for my boss/roommates job, and one for the division heads job. The new division head will need to be trained up, so he is going to take my place for an unknown amount of time. This means I will be returning to Southern California at the end of February to hopefully continue working for this group but at a more home-local capacity. Presumably this will last until the new division head is trained and ready to replace the one who is leaving. At that point, if they'll have me, I will hopefully be coming back out to DC. The specifics of that, like everything here, is up in the air.

I am kinda happy to be going back home for a while. I'll absolutely miss some things here in DC, but I still miss some things from home.

I've never been one to announce my birthday until AFTER, since it's kinda embarrassing XD But I will this time. No ones gonna notice this far down in the post anyway, lol. Turning 28 on Thursday. Being old sucks, lol XD I splurged, with the help of a half-expectedly large per diem check, and bought myself a Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 AF-D. Some of the pictures will be with the new lens.

Anyway, new pics (LOTS and LOTS of them, so may take a min to load)!

Next three shots are from the recent white house protests of the Chinese communist leader.

Bleh, but I'll put it up anyway. These next two shots are from a local DC national park.

Not a good showing but a test of a photographic editing technique. I'm STRONGLY thinking about getting into snowboard photography on the side:
