It's been a while and a LOT has gone on. On the verge of being done with the project for work. My program has been done basically since last week. Unfortunately, my boss has been unable to get a component to work that I've based my program around. We've finally discerned what the problem is and we will have to wait and see what the manufacturer says to see how I will have to change my program. At this point there shouldn't be much more modification required. I am about done with my first tour at this job and I feel I've done a good job even though the odds were pretty stacked against me (damn programming!).
Otherwise, I got my tax return back and MY DAD IS PAID OFF COMPLETELY! YAAAAAAAAAAY! I also put down about a 1/3 of what is on my credit card. My next paycheck will just shy of pay it off completely. In a bit of a personal celebration, since I haven't done anything for myself in quite some time, I will be buying a new headphone amp. Right now I'm looking at this little beauty:
It is the Darkvoice 337 vacuum tube amplifier. It isn't PURELY for my own enjoyment, though there is a lot of that as well. This is because I am looking to seriously start a business around designing, building, and selling tube amps for headphones. I know exactly how I am going to go about this and get my name/product out there. It all starts with an open source DIY project that I am currently designing. I've been researching tube amps very intently the past week. I have learned a LOT and am about ready to start throwing together some sketches and CAD simulations to test the basic ideas. I know what I would like to lean toward as far as topologies are concerned. Next step is to decide what tubes I would like to use.
This particular amp that I'm buying though is considered a cornerstone tube amp of a medium-high caliber. It will be the perfect measuring stick to judge my success by.
One more thing I am excited about is my weightlifting. I did a couple weeks of hard cardio to tone up a bit and I ended up dropping a few pounds and giving my muscles a good rest. What I'm excited about though is the fact that I FINALLY broke the 70lb (32kg) dumbbell press mark. Dumbbell press is the same as bench press except that you use one weight in each hand instead of one weight for both hands. It is more difficult because each hand has to keep the weights stable and your weak arm can't take advantage of the stronger arm. Every time I would approach it in my senior year, I would have a big project or exam/s or break that would pull me away for a month or two. By the time I came back I would have to start from a ways back again. I could have done it, but not to the rep count I try to keep myself in. I'm finally there now though. Feels good to break through that barrier finally.
As things are now though, I'm excited about the future. I'm glad that I overcame the programming hurtle...for now and hopefully forever...I am seriously starting on my amp and business venture, and my weightlifting is going well. I'm even beginning to get cleavage!
Oh and this guy is AMAAAAAAZINGLY talented!
