Well I'm back safe and sound in good ole Columbus Ohio, and have been for a few days. I just haven't been updating my journal because I was recovering from the trip and haven't thought about it. I drove back on Friday and visisted with my friends Amanda and Aaron before going the rest of the way home. That was a good time, we played Apples to Apples and ate dinner together with another friend of ours who is moving to Chicago soon.
Saturday was in some ways good and some ways bad. I can't talk much about it on here for several reasons but if you are curious then feel free to email me and I will explain in detail. I can say that I was nervous thoughout my entire trip about returning to Columbus. I was returning to a new years that would include all of the people involved in the drama surrounding my birthday this year.
My trip also was pretty rough because while my Mom wasn't in THAT bad of shape she was still having problems because of her medication and it was hard for me to see her like that. Frustrating because there is nothing I can do. I spent most of the time that I could with her but she's just so different. We visited, opened presents, and went to church. Yet it was shadowed by the fact that the weather sucked, I so wanted to go to the beach and RELAX in the sun and get a tan. Yet it rained the first two days of my trip then got Ohio level cold the last day, it was in the 50's and 60's all day long and windy. I also was co-op'd into working on two different computer systems, and ordering computer parts for my Dad. For god fucking sake why can't I visit with my family just once in a while and not have to 'work'. It's not that I mind helping out but it is just annoying. I told them to get a Dell so they could have the technical support. *sigh* If I was going to grade my visit to my parents I would give it a C-. It wasn't as bad as it could have been but I had such high hopes for something better.
The good news is that my new years went smoothly. No drama erupted to ruin the evening and everyone was civil. I think that Saturday was in no small part responsible for that. After the above eluded to visit I felt much more capable of getting though Saturday. Drinking a bit helped I would imagine so I was relaxed. The people involved also seemed to be willing to let bygones be bygones. At this point I'm willing to try to forgive and forget what passed between Sean and I on my journal in November if he's willing to do the same. I was out of place and spoke some of what I did without knowing the history he eluded to in his response to my post. So the party was fun.
All told the driving on my vacation wasn't anything near as bad as I thought it would be. In fact other than that first small navigation error on the first leg of my trip everything else went super smooth. For which I count myself lucky. I drove over 2500 miles in a little over a week. I wasn't as lonely as I expected, I did make some use of my cell phone when I got to lonely at times and needed to hear the voice of a friend or loved one. That helped, I also had a good selection of CD's to keep the road from getting to boring. I look forward to doing another long road trip in the future but would love to have someone along for the ride.
Well I'm back to work and school starts back tomorrow. I wish everyone a happy new year and best wishes.
