Saying Goodbye

May 16, 2010 16:05

Said a lot of goodbyes in the last four days.

Thursday was my party at work, where scottwoods  grilled and I got wonderful presents and letters and flowers - and a balloon hat!

I said goodbye to most of the work people then, and then to the rest of them on Saturday, which was my official last work day.  It's weird - I kinda didn't want to go, although in the past there have been days where I would have turned in my notice and been gone that way with no qualms.  But at the same time, I was ready to be done, just sad to leave my coworkers.

Today after church they had a reception for engelhardtlm1 and me, featuring this incredibly crazy awesome cake made by Bethany and Erica.  Look at that madness.  Isn't it fantastic?

There were cupcakes also, a dozen of which are in my fridge right now, but I didn't get pictures yet.  When we pull them out I'll make sure and get some pics up here.

It has been very weird, saying goodbye to Columbus things.  We always knew this was a temporary stop for us - but five years hardly seems temporary, and we've settled in a lot more than I had realized.  There is still a month before we actually leave, but from here on out it's going to be all packing, Lucas' dissertation defense, weddings, graduation parties, packing, cleaning both places, packing, and packing.  Things are moving fast, and we'll be up north before we know it.

Of all the awesome and cool things here, I'll miss the people the most.  I will not miss many things about work.  I will not miss a lot of the patrons - although I will miss some.  I will miss my coworkers horribly, though, and I will miss our church family a great deal.  Sad, exciting days.

And since I love the Muppets, and it's an appropriate sentiment, here is this:
