On Thursday I was feeling snuffly, a bit sore-throated, etc, but I am the "in charge" person on Thursday nights so I went to work anyway. Later that night
amberdulen arrived, which was awesome. On Friday we went grocery shopping, I cooked, we did a little bit of cleaning up, some running, etc. I felt a little icky then but we managed to spend a little bit of time sitting around, and that helped a little, so I decided to go to work on Saturday. I thought pretty heavily about calling off on Saturday, but we're half-staffed as it is and one of our info people was on vacation, so I knew that, while they'd survive if I had called off, it wouldn't have been fun for them. So I went to work, and was snuffly and a little achy all day, but it was otherwise a fine day. And then my family came after work, and that was awesome, and we all hung out.
Today we all went to church for Easter breakfast and then service. This was our first service in the "new" worship center. Five years ago, when we first started going to the church, they had a contemporary service in the gym - what they're now calling the worship center. Then that folded and we went to only one service in the sanctuary. Today was the first day of only one service in the worship center, the sanctuary having been turned into the children's church area. It worked out well, and although we'll all have to get used to it, I think ultimately it's a good change.
After church I hurried around and got Easter dinner ready - ham, greenbean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, the whole nine yards. Various family members helped out but my kitchen is about one foot wide and two feet long so there was a lot of stepping and reaching around people, waiting for someone to be done so that you could do what you needed to do, etc. It was nice but also stressful. The meal (thankfully) turned out OK. We taught my brother and dad how to play Guitar Hero World Tour, which was awesome. We ate some of Mom's apple pie. Then everyone left and we had half a ham and a whole apple pie and almost every single dish we own piled up around the sink.
Throughout the whole morning I was popping cough drops, nursing a headache, and talking like a life-long smoker.
We just now finished cleaning up almost everything, and I feel worse. Lucas is the good angel on my shoulder who always talks me into going to work, and even he's recognized that I am ill and perhaps might not go to work tomorrow. And I'll tell you, I'm seriously considering calling in. I have all these hours of PTO to use before I quit, and no one really needs me tomorrow - I don't close, I'm not doing a program, nothing special like that. Plus I'm thinking a day of just chilling might kick this thing. So that might happen tomorrow morning. We'll see how the rest of the day progresses.
For now I'm going to sit on the couch next to my hubband and play Runescape and continue breathing through my mouth until it's time to go to bed.
Someone at church mentioned they might have a house to sell to us when we move, which only fueled
engelhardtlm1 's real estate fervor. Kind of weird to think that we might be buying a house...
