speech

Okay, sooo.... for my English class, I have to write a speech. And I did.
Now I'd like your opinion on it. :)

"For my speech, I chose a topic that is not as popular as environmental pollution and not as much discussed as drug abuse amongst children. But it's just as important, if not more; Because saving the world will mean nothing if we don't survive to see it blossom.

Today I would like to talk to you about organ donation. Right now,  there are 7651 people waiting for a kidney transplant, 933 people waiting for a new heart, 2139 people waiting for a liver tranplant, 632 people waiting for someone to donate their lungs and 34 people waiting for a pancreas transplant, not including those in need of more than one organ. And I could keep going.
Not a lot, you may say, compared to the total population of almost 82 million.. But what about the people themselves? Why only care about the figures? Imagine, just for a second, that the person you love most has his name on one of those waiting lists, desperately hopeing for a miracle. Wouldn't you want that to happen? Wouldn't you do anything to let them live another day?

Every day 12 - 17 peope die whilst waiting for a transplant. They die, and their families and friends mourn their deaths. How can it be, I wonder, that we allow that to happen when it's so easy to prevent it?
You go see your doctor. Fill out one form. Recieve one card. And it's done.
It's that easy, saving a life. Maybe even two.

Every one has the right to say no. I cannot force you to listen and, frankly, I don't want to. But I do believe in what I said, and I pray you do the same.
Because we could indeed change things. Save lifes.
If we'd only listen."
