Our second CD, Kapi'olani, is entered in the "Traditional Hawaiian Music" category for the Hawai'i Music Awards. The awards are determined entirely by popular vote online. Anyone with a valid email address may vote once per day, and if you have multiple email addresses, you may vote once each day from each address.
You can read about "Kapi'olani" (including the wonderful reviews we received in the Honolulu newspapers) on Daniel Ho Creations website:
http://www.danielho .com/html/ kapiolani. html Last year, we learned that the winning CD received 1200 votes. Our Kalakaua CD was in second place with something like 450 votes. Surely we can do better this year!
What is at stake here is BRINGING RECOGNITION TO THE HERITAGE WE ARE FOSTERING:
- by pooling the talents of award-winning kumu hula,
- by creating contemporary renditions of historical sources,
- by packaging the mele with scholarly integrity, and
- by adhering to the highest standards of artistic and engineering excellence.
