Some people just deserve to be HURT!
I just have to get this off my chest - I am so angry!!!
Yesterday, I was walking to the store. I have to pass by the Humane Society to get there. As I was walking past, I saw this little brown dog - a puppy, maybe 5 months old - run out into the street. Mind you, this is a VERY busy street. Several cars slammed on their brakes to avoid hitting the puppy. Needless to say, I panicked and tried to get the dog out of the street! I was not the only one, there were several of us there calling the puppy and trying to coax her off the street. She came close to us several times (we were all separated) but never close enough that anyone could grab her leash.
There was a man and his little (maybe 3 years old) son standing on the street. As I tried to grab the puppy he started calling "come here Coco!" I asked if it was his dog and he said he was returning her to the pound and if anyone could catch her, they could have her. When she ran back into the street he said "forget it! stupid f****** dog!" I couldn't believe it!
Well, some of us that were there finally got her off the street and into a parking lot. The guy and his son were there, and there were five or six other folks there. I couldn't stand this guy's attitude anymore, so I decided to leave before I slapped him upside the head! Feeling like the situation was under some sort of control, I continued on to the store.
When I came back from the store there was no sign of the man, the dog or the folks who had been there. But I couldn't get that poor sweet puppy off my mind. All night I wondered what happened to Coco!
So, today I decided to find out. I went to the Humane Society and asked if a dog named Coco had been turned in yesterday. I described the dog, gave the details of the incident and the estimated time. Turns out the man DID bring the dog in, and the people there REALLY remembered him. After he got hold of the dog, he BEAT the dog until she was bloody! Then he drug her into the Humane Society, hit her AGAIN INSIDE the office and THREW her across the counter! He told them she was the worst f**** dog he had ever seen! (His son was with him this entire time!)
When the employees there saw the dog and witnessed him hitting her, they immediately called the police. The guy left before the police arrived, but there was a record because his wife had adopted the dog just a week ago. Turns out this guy was in the military! Talk about giving the military a bad name! Anyway, the Humane Society has filed a cruelty charge against him. The fact that the police were called should mean that his commanding officer will be notified. Hopefully they will take action against this a-hole!
The puppy had to have sutures to repair her mouth and had her paws bandaged. An older woman who works there fell in love with Coco and promptly took her home to care for her. She is now safe in a good home.
What makes some people need to hurt creatures that are smaller than they are? I can only hope that his actions towards this dog weren't an example of how he treats his wife and son... So sad.....
We need SO much more love in this world......
