#JIBcon Tahiri: *realizes this is most likely Catching Fire* DAMMIT JENSEN WHY WOULD YOU DENY THE WORLD OF YOU BEING FINNICK. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT.

While I'm sure he doesn't want to disappoint the fans (some of whom have booked international fights and hotel rooms), I think the more important thing is that his downtime is precious to him and that he wanted to spend some of the summer traveling with his wife. (There's also the small matter of contractual obligations. Can't really ditch the TV show your'e contracted to so you can sign on to an extended action movie film shoot ala Die Hard.)
I really think that we the fans are more obsessed with the Js becoming big time A-listers than they are. If they would rather have a long career of B roles rather than be a Hollywood flash in the pan in a summer blockbuster that is a hit this year and forgotten next year, what are we going to do about it?
It's easy for us to sit here and chew him out regarding his career and life choices, but he's the one living them, frustrating as it might be to us.
*shrug*
That said, yes, I do want to see Jensen expand his resume and land a solid movie. It doesn't have to be a blockbuster, but a high quality film would be nice.
Sorry if I'm stepping on toes here. It's just one of my pet peeves when we the fans think we know what's best for the career of someone we don't even know.

Believe me, I've seen worse choices than this in someone deliberately passing by opportunities to forward his career.
And Jensen has already told us to pack our bags, because he's taking us with him to his next project.
ETA: I would also add that marriage is a lot of work, too (as you know). If he values his marriage above the acceptance of a role in a summer block buster, well, personally, I would expect nothing less of him.

I love Finnick. And it would mean a lot to me to have him played by someone I trust. 10 years from now, if they ever tried to make a Supernatural movie with younger people, for example, it would be very important to me for Colin to play Sam, whether he was busy or not, because I trust him. We feel protective of the characters we love and we want to see them done justice.
Obviously I care for the boys and want them to be successful, and being more aware of their lives than of other actor's lives does give me sympathy for things like their personal down time, but ultimately, I am allowed to be sad that someone I love watching act will not be playing a character I love reading.

I wouldn't want someone I've never met and who knows nothing about me telling me how to run my life or make my career work. Why on earth do we (the imperial we) as fans feel like we could do the same? (And yes, I know this is the internet, and the actors aren't going to actually see these ventings. But like I said, pet peeve.)
There are many types of roles I'd love to see Jensen in (the Lone Ranger, for example). But it doesn't do me any good to blow a gasket because it's not going to happen. (Not that I'm saying you're actually blowing a gasket. I understand your frustration, T.)
On a similar note, ever since I got it in my head what a fantastic Sky Masterson Gene Kelly would have made, and that the studio wanted him for the role, but the studio Kelly was contracted to wouldn't let him . . . well, I've been just a little bit dissatisfied since then.
So it's all good. I get it. Just trying to stick up for my boy, I guess.
(Though, yeah, want to see him outside of Vancouver.)

Oh, I hope I didn't give the impression that I was dissing you for that. I really wasn't. Absolutely you can want a favorite actor to play a favorite character. Definitely. I hope I didn't imply otherwise.
