Cake Pictures!

We threw a party Saturday night for my friend Vikki. She's the one who lends me her big screen tv on Friday nights, and she was turning 40, so naturally when it came time to plan out an Over The Hill themed cake, we thought ... SHOW! \o/

My boss baked the cake, which was a double layer chocolate cake with whipped peanut butter buttercream frosting from scratch. NOM.

We rolled fondant to make the road, and I carved a grave hole out of one corner.

All cemeteries need trees, so we added one. We used what we carved out of the grave hole to build the hill.

Then we iced the rest of the cake. Did I mention NOMNOMNOM?

I carved the inscription into the fondant with a toothpick, lol. It reads, "It is better to be over the hill than buried under it" in latin. Thanks to my flist who translated it for me while I worked on homework Friday night.

We were going to ice the words on, but it turned out we had this sugar that was really thick and looked like salt, so we 'salted' them instead. We added Milano cookie gravestones and a pile of oreo dirt beside where Sam and Dean had dug up Vikki's body.

We put a little 'salt' in there, too. Sam and Dean left their shovels, tsk.

Somebody's grave had flowers, n'aww.

Final touch - the hellhound. Vikki is a Vet at my office and she LOVES dogs, so no cake of hers would be complete without a dog of some kind. I poured a salt ring to keep him in so he wouldn't escape and maul anyone at the party.

You can see his little footprints as he paces around in there. He is, of course, invisible.

Here we are at the party. I got her to dress formal by giving her that black dress, lol. I iz sneaky.

And here is the cake! I put the candle in the grave, naturally. She had no idea what the cake would be like. The restaurant held it for me in the kitchen until I was ready to light the grave and we brought it out on fire.

She about died, lol. I win.

After having transported this thing about 50 miles in one day, I was just happy it made it all in one piece.

It was YUMMY. That is my goofy husband on the right. And my goofy work husband on the left. Lolz.

We gave about 4 take-home boxes to the waiting staff, who devoured it in seconds like a school of piranha. LOL.

ALL GONE! \o/

is this real life?, flistofawesome, happy birthday, picspam, epic show pwns everything
