Pics from my Arwen photo shoot, featuring occasionally a truly classy guy name Baptiste, in no particular order. If you are ever in the Tampa/Florida area for a convention and want to book Claudia for a shoot,
ping her at her website. We did this for fun because she wants to get into costume photography, and because I work with her husband and I used mind control on him to get him to suggest it to her. ;)
This dress is an interpretation of Arwen's Flight to the Ford dress from Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring, the movie version. As we all know, Glorfindel really rode Asfaloth across the Bruinen Ford, but hey - his outfit is not as cool as mine, so there.
I made it at LEAST 2 years ago, but I've never really gotten pictures of it, even though it is one of my favorites to wear. So comfortable, and completely machine washable, big bonus points. :)
On to the pics!
"Noro lim, noro lim, Asfaloth."
All the elven scrollwork was hand painted onto this dress. Every few runs through the machine I touch it up. It's held up really well.
Arwen's butterfly clasp, shown above, I had to order from Italy somewhere.
I didn't ride because Baptiste is a little bit of a dork when it comes to flappy wavy things anywhere near him, but he did just fine as long as there were kisses. :) He kept trying to eat my wig though, which was unfortunate, lol.
"Nin o Chithaeglir, lasto beth daer, Rimmo nin Bruinen, dan in Ulair!"
Arwen's sword, Hadhafang, is a licensed sword from United Cutlery. I bought it before it came out, which would have been ... 2001? 2002? In college. I wanted it because we collect swords and it is PRETTY. It is also quite heavy.
"Im Arwen, telin le thaed. Lasto beth nin, tolo dan nan galad."
The Evenstar necklace is a reproduction that I bought at a Renaissance festival, but it's sterling silver and crystal and it has held up well over the years. The headpiece shown here is the simple Elven circlet from
therenstore.com - not sure if they still sell it.
"A si duarth u ortho. U or le a u or nin.."
This cloak is the first thing I ever sewed, nearly 5 years ago.
It was to wear to my friend
ravenmorgana 's wedding, and it is still one of my favorite things to wear to this day.
That concludes our picspam. Bonus points to anyone who knows all the quotes! ^.^
Thanks for looking!
