So, you open the door and there is a witch sitting on your bed telling you you should thank her for saving your ass and calling you both Shortbus - what do you do!? :D
Take the spell, obviously. A deep abiding hatred for witches doesn't do a lick of good against a woman that is dating a guy that has an ACCENT!!
WOW, show. Good thing you slipped this shot into the rest of the episode like FIVE TIMES, I might have missed the fact that there is something about the necklace that seems to be important.
*eyeroll*

I think everybody heard Patrick call this dude 'Ash' the first time. My entire body was coiling up for the totally unmitigated squee asplosion when I figured out it was 'Hash' or something like that.
Why you do that to me, Show? Don't you love me no moar?
On the other hand - if Ash was coming back? We'd all know. Chad can't keep a secret off of twitter to save his life.
Patrick genuinely likes 'Hash' and folds when he knows he could beat him, giving him back 13 years. Now, I love Patrick anyhow for the 'cut of your jib' comment and his accent, but if I'm being realistic I'd have to say that at the end of the day, I still think he needs to be stopped. No matter how much this scene made me go AWWWWWW, Patrick. *snuggles*
Sam isn't fooled for a second. Confused, maybe ...
And yes, they got me. Dropping out the planning part of the episode did make me wonder if Sam was there without group consent. I probably could have figured out the answer faster, but I didn't care. I was certain Sam could win. Bobby and Dean seem to have forgotten something that I didn't think Dean would EVER forget.
Sam is a master liar.

These night shots are gorgeous. *stares*
Dean is dealing with his unsettled feelings from earlier by complaining about something tangible, like Dean does. I got more than one laugh from this scene - yes, Dean, being old sux. I give you five stars for The Bukkit List, and a 10 for Ironsides. *glee*
X-men, Transformers AND the Civil War all in 2 episodes? Sir, I think I might love you.
In other news - I have sciatica, and I'm Sam's age. *snort* I need a new job.
~*~
Now, the last few episodes have felt to me a lot more like season two. After the last ep, I was trying to explain WHY and the long answer was this -
506 had a season 2 feel to it - not strictly because of the plotlines, but the way it was spaced, framed and directed. It followed the old formula,(Vic#1/Boys/Vic #2/boys/Interview/boys/dramatic reveal/boys/Fight at the End/boys) but kept each scene flowing smoothly (and RELEVANTLY) into the next, making the episode feel just a little longer and more epic - something that Fallen Idols tried to do and failed HARD at. So far to me s5's eps have felt rushed and choppy for the most part - the only 2 I really felt secure over have been 3 and 4 - and so I really enjoyed the older feel of this one, how it flowed like the Supernatural that I remember, but was quite obviously a legit season 5 arc episode without being clunky. All that to say, yeah - good solid ep. :)
And now I think the same applies to 507. The boys are the boys again, the scenes are deeper again, the other characters have backstories again - and the whole final wrap up of this episode nailed it.
The cuts, lighting and framing are intense and focused, making every heartbeat feel drawn out.

Sam is taking his time, contemplating every move like it's chess while Patrick tries to get a read on him.
"I like you, Sam. I do."
Dear Patrick,
Join the club. Seriously. If Sam had a dollar ...
Headshakingly yours,
~T
Patrick's read isn't that far off, but Sam knows something he doesn't know. And that is that he and Dean are in this one together, as a team. That's the way to do it, boys.
*scoff* What a backstabbing whore. *scoff*
Outside the game, though, Sam's cool is a little frayed at the edges. He HAS been losing, and he's ready to get the hell out of there. He's trusting Dean to back him up the same way that Dean - although obviously not his first choice for a plan - is trusting him to hang in there long enough for that plan to take action.
Oh, Dean.
*worried face*
I'm not sure I can watch you have any more heart trouble. Let's make this the last time, okay? Please?
\o/ Bobby speaking Gaelic!! \o/
\o/ And blue fire!! \o/
Lol, it's Kelso and Hyde in The Van.
*SNERK*
Maybe later they'll all sit together in The Circle and have happy sharing time.
This isn't Andy's van all stripped out, is it? Because I think Gabe would be sad about that. And also he'd be wondering where his velvet tiger went that Kripke promised him.

LORD VADER!
This makes EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. THIS SEASON.
Made me wonder what the throat chakra blocks, since everyone wants to close it so bad.
5th Chakra: Throat: Tied to creativity and communication.
Feels pressure when you are not communicating your emotions properly.
..... huh.
I'm sorry, but this picture begs for a caption. Anyone?
"Is Patrick gonna have to smack a bitch" is too obvious.
It's the first time you get a sense of the depth of his love for her, that he doesn't just kill her right there. Yet another indication that this isn't your average pair of witches. She just tried to commit muder/suicide, and he just sits back down to play the game. Yeah, he looks angry - but still.
Oh ok fine, I LOVE HIM, OKAY!? HE HAS AN ACCENT!
I love how Sam keeps his cool in these kinds of situations. I mean, he's been choked every episode this season so he's got a lot of experience, but it's that laser focus of his that makes me kind of love him. Where Dean smarts off and tries to improvise as things go, Sam's silence seems to indicate that he ALWAYS has a concrete plan.
I guess that Proverb is true after all - how even a fool can be thought wise if he KEEPS HIS TRAP SHUT.
Not that I'd ever call Sam the fool.
That's Dean's Card.
No no, Dean. The rule of cardio is for ZOMBIES, not STAIR CLIMBING. WATCH OUT FOR HART TAX!!
This is the most awesome bluff ever. Look at his posture. Every muscle in his body is screaming don't guess my secret. We've seen that stance before, I think. Comes in handy sometimes, apparently. Good to know.
"Set 'a ladies, I'm guessin'."

I miss season 4 Sam. Now, before you all get yer danders up in a kerfluffle, hear me out.
He was STRONG. He was CONFIDANT. He was a FORCE. It wasn't the power, it was HIM. He had faith in his ability to DO something. Yes, it wasn't the right way and yes, he got lost - but he was still SAM, underneath everything, and that Sam still has the ability to be just as strong and confidant, to be just a much of a force to be reckoned with as he was when he was using the power. And I miss that. I've loved him this season because even though he's regained his humility, he's also realizing that it's time to stand up for himself and play his part like a HUNTER - and to believe that he CAN. And it makes me glee. So yeah, I kind of love him pwning Patrick. Despite Patrick's accent.
Even Patrick is impressed, and he's been doing this for hundreds of years.
But then everything turns upside down - Patrick plays his biggest advantage. News of Dean's impending death has been greatly exaggerated knocks Sam's focus off track instantly. I love Sam for attempting to bolt from the table even though if Dean WAS going to die, there'd be nothing he could do about it in 'mere minutes'.
This is the first time Dean has died where his last word was Sam. I wonder if that means anything?
*listens to all the fangirl hearts asplode*
"When it's about your brother, you get so emotional your brain just flies right out the window."
"Go to hell."
Thus begins the longest dying breath ever in the history of Supernatural besides Yellow Fever.
When Sam went all in, everyone was horrified but me. I think I did a *fistpump*.
"I can't leave until it's over? Fine. It's over. Where's my brother."
Dear Bobby,
That gasp-thump noise means Bad Stuff just happened. It's okay - it's usually Dean hearing those kinds of things on the phone. Takes a few times to decipher it.
Informatively yours,
~T
ACES FULL! OHNOZ! \o/
You know, I think he's actually sorry.
*Pets Patrick. And his accent.*
Seriously Dean, are you STILL dying? It's like an art form with you!

Dear Mrs. Patrick,
I'd cry too, if something bad happened to Sam. Oh wait.

There was something really creepy awesome about the way Sam revealed his hand. It took me a while to put my finger on the look on his face. Then I remembered I'd seen it before, in 5.4.
Something about the way he gives the nod, and is all calm and quiet and says 'it's okay,' gave me goosebumps.
It reminded me of Lucifer. A lot.
HA. TAKE THAT. *dances*

Now, for comparison's sake, here you go.
Personally I think Sam is way better at poker - but Jared has the leather jacket and he's bouncy, so ... Idk who I enjoyed watching more. :P

I really felt for them both here - and I loved that. It's sad to think of outliving everyone you love.
Isn't it, boys?
Patrick may get away with what he's done, but he's facing eternity alone. He tells her he can't do it without her, and I think he means it. Nice parallels there, Show.

Sam is still on restrictions, I see. Can't really fault Dean and Bobby for perking up like meerkats at the thought of a seekrit outing, but still ... *sigh*.
LOL booster shot. Poor Sam.
I was squirming FOR him, awkward.
*pets and laughs*
Sorry Sam - it's totally worth it to see you make this face.

There have been many, many great scenes between these two guys, and I never get tired of them, but THIS ONE! It's like ... backwards! Bobby is the man who wanted to throttle Dean and told him his life was worth something BEFORE, and that he's a better man than his daddy ever was, and Dean is telling Bobby all the same, in his own words, and and .... *just loves them both a lot*.
His opening line about not stopping being a soldier because you got wounded in battle is awesome. I mean, it's DEAN. And Bobby may be older, he may have been a hunter longer in human years, but Dean really IS 70, and even with everything Bobby has seen NO one knows more about being a soldier than Dean. I can see John telling him that when times got hard, too. It's a line, but it's so Winchester.
*tears up a little*
Bobby may be like a father to them, but he also respects them. He knows who he's talking to.
Dean doesn't ask or try to placate. He lays out the facts and says Don't you dare. He says I can't do this without you. And it's true, and it means a lot. Sam may be Dean's true North - but Bobby is the magnet that keeps the compass drawing. Without his guidance, they'd be lost.
Dean is letting Bobby see how close he is at any given moment to going to peices. He's letting Bobby see that the thought of losing him scares the crap out of Dean - out of them both. And he gets it, but it's too much all at once to process. That kind of love is hard to accept sometimes.
I'm glad they are keeping Ironsides. I kind of love it.
*basks in the love*
Dear Bobby,
Idjit.
All my love,
~T
