But Dean is better at poker, or at least he has every reason to be. We know that Dean supported them(him and Sam) at times with his poker earnings(Sam in fact mocked them in Season 1 on two different occasions--Bloody Mary and Bugs). Dean also did so in Folsom Prison Blues when he was beating all comers. Sam has never been a big poker player and I doubt he was doing much poker playing for big stakes in college(the 4 years he was on his own) or during the 4 months Dean was dead.

What Dean and Bobby were talking about was actually quite valid and if anything it's rather fishy that Sam did as well as he did. It's sort of silly to suggest that Sam is as good or better at everything Dean and Bobby have been doing longer and with far more interest than he has. And if Sam had lost(never mind about Dean dying in the end), there would have THREE of them unable to really fix the problem - Sam was the only one physically fit at that point.

Dean's argument was perfectly logical and probably true actually, in reality. It wasn't being over protective and it wasn't being dismissive of Sam's skills. Sam sure as heck did not become a massive poker expert in the 4 months Dean was in Hell.

Actually, in reality, this comment is pretty nonsensical. LOL

You're assuming that it matters who the better poker player is. You missed the point. In this case, it was a poker game of playing the PLAYER... and nobody is better at THAT than Sam.
