Still at work, but taking a little break...

PHEW! I was so stressed out ALL day about how much I have to do. But I think it was all in anticipation of my meeting with my boss and boss' boss at 5 pm. I had to meet with them on a price increase (from my main supplier), but was sure they would bring up questions on my "strategy" and things I wasn't prepared to answer.

But it wasn't too bad, and at the end, my boss' boss said "Good job. I'm impressed with the amount of knowledge you have on all this... you were able to answer all my questions. So, thank you for that."

Yay! Probably the first legitimate, unprovoked, compliment I've received (other than the one from the field). I mean, a lot of my work is so day to day, and the learning curves on all the new work I received are equally as steep as my original work...it's hard to be as excelling as I want... most of my time I felt I was barely getting the engine to run before it hit another break in the track.

Now I'm chugging along best I can...which is the best I can do. And my time, though I can lose focus or the ability to think every once in a while, overall has been spent far more wisely.... and far more on work during the week than anything else.

And I learned how to play golf yesterday....tanned like crazy... but today the guy on my team and I were talking about it, and he was talking about Tiger Woods. And he was talking about what UT's (University of Texas) football coach was saying about Tiger woods "hard work plus opportunities = luck"... and my coworker said, sure there is some degree of luck involved, but it's about hard work.

And I've been working hard, and not wasting nearly as much time.

But now I also have deadlines that are coming up ridiculously quick. I need to balance my priorities with my weekly fires....because I have to get my strategy recommendation and market intelligence out and presented, and agreed to before I leave. If it takes me working until 9 everyday to make sure I do this right, then so be it...but I will get it done...

And as my current trend has shown, the harder I work, the harder I play... hopefully this weekend will be a good time too :)
