When I decided to spend today in my flat in my pyjamas doing nothing and flaking out watching movies, having a rotten cold and spending the whole night tossing and turning with two duvets on and trying to escape a stress dream where I kept trying to book tickets to the opera but my computer kept crapping out and then there weren't any but I'd promised my Dad that i'd take him was not what i had in mind.
Nonetheless,
zoeiona and me went to the English National Opera last night (hmm, dream, I wonder where you might have come from!) to see their production of Verdi's Simon Boccanegra, which was very well staged. Unfortunately it seems as though they must have seriously abridged it, because there were these huge chunks of exposition projected onto a screen they put down whenever they were changing the set, which made it quite lurching story wise. It was worth it for £20 though, and I'd definitely go again if they do another offer like that.
