Art Requests and Offers hm_f July 20 2015, 20:57:27 UTC
Mods, not an issue with the collection, but I've just realized this exchange isn't currently open to artists. As an artist I'd like to get a chance to participate too, is it possible for you to consider adding art requests/offers too? Just in case, here is a good suggestion how to handle it:

I am well aware of how to add fic and art to the exchange as options that won't interfere with the tag nature of this exchange. It is a matter of wanting to know how many people are interested. As it says in the faq, we want people that are interested in receiving or giving art to comment so we can see how much interest there is. This is an exchange that has been inactive for a few years so I have little idea how the numbers will be compared to the first year. I want to make sure there are a good handful of people that are interested in art. Counting you, there have been three people expressing interest. If a total of five do so then it will be added in.

I see, thank you. I wasn't aware, I have to have missed that part on the FAQs.

Okay, I've just found I was aware but I've forgotten... look at what vacations do to people. >__>

Two things (sorry for the tl:dr). I hope these will be my only questions, but no promises:

1. I was going to nominate "Friends to Lovers", but I see that "Getting Together" is approved. I think "Friends to Lovers" can encompass two different kinds of stories: 1) getting together and 2) a story that starts just after the first kiss or whatever and is about how they navigate the transition. But if other people only see "Friends to Lovers" as the first, then I won't waste a nomination on something so redundant. What do you think?

2. I nominated "Realm Hopping". I think of that as like going to Narnia, not parallel universes where you meet your alt!self. Do you agree with this, or were you thinking both types should be wrapped up in this tag, and we have to explain in our optional details which one we want?

Feel free to ask all the questions you want.

1. I definitely do think they are related, but not the same. I think I would allow "Friends to Lovers" to be nominated separately.

2. I do see "Realm Hoping" as visiting canonical other worlds that aren't parallel worlds/alternate universe. Like visiting Narnia, traveling to different planes in D&D, or Sora visiting different worlds in Kingdom Hearts.

"EDIT: Some people have nominated groups where not all the characters appear in the fandom they were nominated under. However, if a character can't be nominated on their own under a particular fandom, then said character won't be accepted as part of a group for that fandom. In other words, if a character comes from Fandom A, they can't be included in a group under Fandom B."

That could be me. Are crossovers allowed in a different way?

You can list them in your optional details. I'd say nominate the Characters from Fandom A under Fandom A, then in your optional details say that you also ship them with character from Fandom B. There is no guarantee that you will get it, but sign-ups will be visible from the get-go. I find it helps to think of it as a tag exchange that allows characters, rather than a character/shipping exchange that allows tags.

Uhm, what's the difference between Mind Reading and Telepathy tags?

Mind reading is the act of gaining information on another's thoughts whether through tech, magic or, yes, telepathy. Telepathy is the transfer of ideas between two people using something that is not typically one of the normally defined human senses.

I've put it on the list of possibly merging them, but Pessi feels strongly they should remain separate.
