Happy new year
Happy new year to everyone (and of course again when the year of the Dragon starts). I had tea with friends yesterday afternoon and felt remarkably civilized. Jana's fancy porcelain cup collection and Catherine's baking always make it an Occasion. I forgot to ask to view the Winter Book that Jana bound for the Center for the Book. Will have to ask if I can come later. She does superb work. A master.
Denny and I spent a quiet evening and went to bed early. Nothing woke me until someone's car alarm went off at 4 am. Stopped. Went on again. Then this afternoon, it or another one went off a couple more times. Sheesh. There it goes again. Just disconnect the battery, will ya?
Am cooking a ham, and we'll have smashed potatoes and green beans(beans not smashed)this evening. The cats went outside earlier for a few minutes, but hated the wind. I didn't care for the ice, myself. If it's still slippery tomorrow I'll have to drive to a mall and get some exercise besides lugging things up and down the stairs endlessly.
Rebecca and I will do some cutting out and sewing tomorrow, and probably pore over seed catalogs. Fun AND constructive.
It's odd having two weeks vacation with no travel, or real obligations except for the usual maintenance things. I have a list of Things To Be Done That Have Been Not Done Far Too Long. I won't get it all taken care of, but it's a start.
