Went to see the last Harry Potter film. I think it was well done, and I'm astounded at the quality maintained throughout the series. My only real gripe is the quantity of flash, bang and swoop involved in this one, but I guess when you've got that many wizards wizarding so desperately, it's inevitable. It gave me a nasty headache.
Seeing all the older and seemingly ineffectual Hogwarts wizards come into their own during the final battles was very satisfying, as was Nigel Longbottom's mighty swing to dispatch the snake. I wish they had let Hedwig do a fly by at the end of the credits, or something like that. Maybe the doe passing by? Just a little "so-long".
I'm going to miss Snape.
I had quarrels with parts of the books. I nearly didn't read past the first because of the way women and girls were pretty much sidelined, but Rowling caught on, and although it wasn't perfect, it was improved later on.
