poor Basho....

I posted about Basho before....he's my lovely chocolate point siamese that is semi-feral....just never quite made the human connection since I've had him (I got him at 6 months old...).  Anyway, he's lost a lot of weight recently, and I finally chased him around the house and caught him up and took him to the vet this afternoon.  I was suspect of hyperthyroid with him, but, the blood numbers came back diabetic.  Which, as it turns out, isn't necessarily a bad thing, since I already have insulin in the house for my other diabetic cat Bronte.  However, it does pose a special problem for Basho as I have to chase him around for a while until I can catch him to do anything to him.  He's not hard to deal with once he's caught, but, it's just getting him.  Right now, he's in Bil's office with Colette until I get him regulated, hopefully we'll figure out a dose that works for him soon.  Then, he can come out in the house with his friends and I'll just have to see how it goes catching him up every day.  Hopefully, it won't stress him too much.  We did send out a thyroid test on him as well just to make sure we aren't dealing with a few issues here (he's 11 years old so, obviously, we can be dealing with multiple things...).  The good news is, his other blood values, including kidney stuff, looks good.  So, we'll see how it goes.  He really is such a sweet boy, he loves the other cats and they him, especially Edna and Truman, so, I'm hoping they don't have to lose their friend at this point.

Here's Basho with some buds....an older picture, but, he does love to cuddle with the other cats...that's him yawning, lol.
