Well, if you read the post preceding this one, you'd see that I did a llama painting recently. That painting was inspired by the llamas of Cozy Cove llama farm here in Huntsville, or, well, just on the outskirts. I met Cozette, the farm owner, at a party hosted by some mutual friends this summer, and we immediately hit it off. She breeds and shows llamas, and we got to talking about animals, of course. I have been meaning to get out to her place all summer, and finally made it there yesterday. And oh my goodness! what a visit it was!
Cozette's farm is such a lovely place. I saw the llamas from the road as I pulled up, in fact I was gawking so much I nearly drove off the road! lol! Those llamas are SO cute! She has, oh, I don't know.....80 or so? Amazing. And you know the funny thing? Not all that different than having a bunch of cats. Seriously!! I helped her to carry out food for them, she puts out food dishes in the various pens, and they follow her around like my own cats do at feeding time, it's a hoot! I got to see a little baby llama that was just born that morning...oh my, all legs, black with some white, just the cutest thing! She keeps the males separated, some in groups that get along, some have to be on their own. She said she really has to watch the males, they do whatever it takes to get to the females (yep, typical, huh??)
But they were all beautiful, I just love their ears and eyes. And some were really beautiful color combos. She also has a little herd of donkeys, really cute.
So, here are some pics....I so enjoyed myself out there, hope to get out to visit again some time. And, hoping to do some more llama paintings, they are wonderful subjects!
Here's the baby, I thought I had a better pic of him, but I didn't get one apparently...
