As a former Serviceman this is offensive. G.I. Joe, as originally created stands for General Infantry Joe and is about the heroism of the AMERICAN military man. When the 1980s rolled in and the AMERICAN cartoon came about this is what the opening had to say (to include from the 1980s animated movie) -
"G.I. Joe is the name for America's highly trained special mission force. Its purpose: To defend human freedom against Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world."
According to what I've been reading from various sources G.I.Joe of the new movie is a United Nations military force and they are specifically having it take place at a foreign headquarters because they wanted to distance themselves as much as possible from the American military and the War on Terror. Well if you want to do that then don't rape the name of G.I. Joe. Just call it something else you Hollywood Scum! Just because you all hate George Bush and the War on Terror doesn't mean you have to sully something that is good and predates the current events to line your greedy little communist pockets.
