Title: Movie Night
Rating: FRT
Summary: Nick and Dave watch a movie.
Dave couldn't help it. He was not ashamed to admit it: He loved horror movies. His mother always asked how he could watch "that garbage" with all that he saw at work.
Dave didn't really have an explanation for why he loved the horror genre, but after a tough day, watching dumb teenagers running from a psycho killer was... relaxing. Plus, he loved laughing at the physically impossible inaccuracies concerning deaths.
He and Nick were sitting on the couch watching Nightmare on Elm Street. Dave smiled when Nick grabbed his hand as Tina's body hit the ceiling. "Why couldn't we have watched Food Inc.?"
"Nightmare's a classic. You have to see it," Dave explained. "We'll rent what you want next time, honest."
"I don't like being scared," Nick said as his grasp on Dave's hand loosened.
"Then you are in the wrong business."
"I like helping people. That blood looks so fake."
"Oh, I know! Don't you love it?"
Title: Work
Rating: FRT
Summary: Every day life.
"Blunt force trauma to the head," Dave said. "First look, weapon was sharp... tool-like."
"Thanks SuperDave," Nick said. "I'll see you at the autopsy."
"Alright." Dave motioned and he and the other coroner's assistants loaded the body into the van.
Nick began photographing the rest of the scene. Warrick walked under the tape and set down his kit. "Sorry I'm late," he said. "I hate traffic on the Strip."
"It's okay, man. You wanna take that side? We won't be able to hold the scene for that long. Why can't everyone die inside?"
"Because our jobs would be too easy then," Warrick said laughing. "So how is Dave?"
"He's great. Things are great."
"Tell him I say hi. I'm sorry I missed him."
"Will do."
The men finished working in silence.
Title: Burger
Rating: FRT
Summary: Dave cooks for Nick.
Nick was addicted to fast food. To be honest, it was a habit that thoroughly disgusted Dave. He could understand that the hours they worked left little time for cooking. It wasn't an excuse to eat burgers for every meal.
Dave made it his mission to cook for Nick when he could. He invited Nick to his house after they had pulled a double. When they got there, Nick protested, saying he just wanted to go to sleep. Dave insisted.
They sat down at the table with the only lighting being a candle Dave had lit. He placed Nick's plate in front of him and sat down.
"How is it?" Dave asked.
"Better than a burger."
Title: Nightmares
Rating: FRT
Summary: Dave asks Nick a question.
Spoilers: Not quite a spoiler, but this indirectly refers to Grave Danger.
"Do you still have nightmares?" Dave whispered as they lay next to each other. It was the early evening and they were going to have to get up for work soon.
"We all have nightmares," Nick said.
"But about... what happened?"
"Sometimes. On the nights you aren't here." Dave looked at Nick who was silently crying. He kissed the tears away.
"I guess I have to spend every night here."
"You should spend every day here too, then," Nick added.
"I think I can manage that."
