Killer vampire deer and other wildlife

Cirdan and I went on a nice hike yesterday afternoon, over at Rancho San Antonio park in the Cupertino foothills. I should start by thanking her, because if she hadn't come with me for this, I probably would have procrastinated and ended up not going. Again. I think we walked about 5.5-6 miles overall. Good exercise, plus a nice change to catch up on everything. Along the way, we saw a variety of wildlife - tons of little lizzards sunning on the path, several deer and a couple of adorable fawns, and a little flock of quail. Cirdan mentioned at one point that we didn't want to run into any mountain lions, but I think we were pretty safe from that, as I seem to be an anti-mountain lion charm. However, I pointed out that we were safe from the deer only as long as they weren't killer vampire deer. Luckily, none of the deer appeared to fall into this category, or if they did, they decided to act like normal deer and allow us safe passage.

In other news, I finished all the carpet steam cleaning for the moment, just in time to return the steamer to the store. I managed to get one run done on the easily accessable areas of my parents' room, and a couple of runs in my sister's room. Good thing I started as soon as I got the machine Mon evening, though. Carpets take a fair while to dry, between runs. The end result isn't completely clean, but it's better than it was before. At least now I can actually move into the room. Next, to figure out how to put together the bedframe...
