Wild Roses Prompt 066 "Rain"

Nov 01, 2005 20:21

Title: Symphony for raindrops on glass and tin
’Verse/characters: Wild Roses, (Ruadhan Sabaey)
Prompt: 066 Rain
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Notes: He wrote music, once upon a time.

The first note is long, a single pure tone like that of a partially filled wineglass rubbed with a wet finger. The notes that follow dance around the first, sharp glissandos that dance above it, barely contained by any traditional time signature.

A strike then, on a cymbal, and the dance takes off again, eluding time signatures and traditional tunings altogether, becoming a layered, complex assymetric melody that flouts the customs of the court, for all appearances unwittingly.

No tradition to give direction, no timing to orient the listener until they stop, and simply listen within chaos to find order.
